Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pretty sure he did Bud.
Wasn’t there an interview with him a little while back where he said there’s ‘a bit of room in next years cap, not a lot - but a bit’

Seen a big list of exits a bit back - no mention of May and KPP… both big money recruits.
Think that's right mate that was before the Bunty signing that he said not to expect any major additions, unless he was telling porkies, but there's 3 spots to fill there must be something left in the kitty.

Coby Black just signed with the Raiders for 550k a season & he hasn't even played a game of first grade. 500K a season is a solid deal.
Halves particularly..and fullbacks...are a totally different market.
Props are heading that way too..
KPP is arguably the best backrower on the market..$600k or so doesnt seem excessive..and I think hes got upside with a decent coach, which I dont think hes ever had
Great challenge for Benji

We would have more cap space than most other clubs.

Code Sports published the top 100 paid players in the game (600k and above) not long ago, and we only had 4 which was equal least in the entire NRL. Of those 4 only 1 (Luai) was in the top 50.

Of course some players like Taylan, Api etc would be getting upgrades, but that's the case at most clubs. You could find players on each roster who have been upgraded.

Barry Toohey is usually spot on whenever it comes to news around Newcastle & he said the deal is $600k a season. He was on $700k last year so it’s still a decent hair cut to take for him
I believe it was reported that it was actually 500k a season... Well thats what the DT and Codes Sport reported the figure as, and I highly highly doubt they would under quote a Tigers player salary.

I’m not against the KPP signing if we are paying him 600k as he is relatively young and has all the attributes to be a much better player than what he is currently demonstrating.
However if we get the current version who very rarely if ever hits anywhere near top speed, that will become a problem.
We ideally need another good quality NRL edge back rower to emerge and keep both he and and Sam Fainu on their toes.
Hopefully we have that player within the likes of Mavrik Geyer, Tony Sukkar, Solo Saukuru, Ethan Robers and Phoenix Godinet - Time will yell.

It means that playing for Manly lower grades would be the right place for him, promised so much but delivered so little.
But I only just found out that Blacktown is no longer the feeder club for Manly, so he won’t be playing there.
All good, thought you might have been having a shot at Blacktown 😁
