Is this still going on ? The hate from a few of you is constant lol. I reiterate . Why do you support the tigers ? Is it Stockholm Syndrome? Like honestly, why is it always the tigers fault ? Like on everything ? X player stays loyal . Typical tigers . Bad bloke , good player , decides to continue being a bad bloke , at his 3rd team , and leaves . Useless tigers . We continue to compete despite some bad signings by an agenda driven, used car salesman of an ex coach . Oh that’s a fluke, management should have signed X player instead of Y player .... It’s tiresome.

It's not as tiring as you whinging all the time about other people not sharing the same opinion as yourself. Today's forum discussions haven't been negative at all, it's been about trying to identify some issues we perceive to exist in the club. That's what forums are about. There's been no disrespect or insults or anything of that nature.

Yea you’re right . It’s my intolerance for other opinions that’s the issue..... tell me again how crap we are. It’s super constructive and original . I’d really like to hear why the development structures are the worst . I feel like it’s been a few weeks...

I am not as worried as others regarding our inability to sign players. I suspect it’s a timing issue with our pursuit (and reported tentative agreement) with LM, we probably were too late for Lomax, Drinkwater etc. Their negotiations would have started some time ago and we obviously thought we had our target - alas we have missed the boat.

So in the absence of anything better, I would look to front end so see contracts so our war chest next year is massive.

The key to this 'war chest' is making the 8 in 2020. Atm, no one wants to come here because of inability to play finals football. We need to make the 8 as of next year and this is critical for us attracting the right players when all this $$ becomes available.

No offence meant to you in particular Tcat, but I'm sick of hearing that nobody wants to come to WT because we rarely make the 8 etc. Mate, I've seen players willingly sign with clubs that regularly finish below us on the ladder and perform far worse than us most years, so I really don't think us not making the 8 is an issue.

We are on the cusp of making the finals nearly every year, we never finish out of contention or dead last. Perhaps if just one or two of these 'top' players came to play with us they could actually help us to become a regular top 8 team and real Premiership threat! You would think that it would be an incentive and a challenge to be part of a team that is on the verge of lifting itself to become one of the better teams in the comp, but they seem to have absolutely no foresight at all.

Couldn’t agree more. The people who say “no-one will sign for us because we haven’t been playing finals” don’t seem to be aware of any other clubs. Not playing finals didn’t stop Klemmer and Ponga signing for Newcastle, or RTS for the Warriors, or Valentine Holmes for the Cowboys. Wanna guess Souths’ last three finishes before they signed Inglis? 14th, 10th, 9th. Mitchell himself might end up at the Titans FFS.

If a club doesn’t seem like a total basket case and offers the best deal, players will go there. It’s as simple as that.

That’s all true but how many clubs have gone 8 straight seasons without making the finals

RTS signed for the Warriors before the 2016 season and they hadn't played finals since 2011.
Inglis signed for Souths after they'd missed the finals for three straight years.
Klemmer and Ponga signed for the Knights after three straight wooden spoons.

Do you think there's a magic number after which players say to their agents "oh no, they haven't been in the finals for X years, I'd rather sign anywhere than there"?

That’s all good info still doesn’t equate to 8 straight

I don't think there's anything to add here. If you don't think players signing for the Knights off the back of three consecutive wooden spoons clearly demonstrates that players will sign for anyone who offers the best contract you are obviously not going to listen to anything. Have a good evening.

All of this discussion about not being able to attract players got me thinking. Firstly im glad Lomax stayed at the dragons im all for players remaining loyal. Good on him. Thats our problem we needed our guy's to remain loyal and they just turned out to be mercinaries. Tedesco, Woods, Moses. We have never been a glamour club to attract premium established talent. Our strength lies in our junior catchment and internal development. We put our eggs into the junior basket and our "golden generation" left us high and dry. Weve pretty much been coasting along season to season ever since. We really need to do something about building our own club culture that attracts players who want to be a part of it. Heres the problem as i see it were only a very young club compared to the comp, in order to build a culture it can take generations of players and juniors it has been ingrained into, it also requires legacy players which we really dont have many of Marshall and Farah, Rowdy eventually. We can then start moving the club forward with our own identity that opposition players can buy into. Another major problem is this constant media rubbish of a wests tigers legend Benny Elias or Siro or Blocker or who ever else they keep using for a sound byte. The club really need to start to be proactive in distancing themselves from this kind of thing. We are the Wests Tigers these past players played for former clubs not us. We need to build our own identity or how do we explain ourselves to potential players? who do we say we are ? What do we have in the four walls of our organisation that they will never find anywhere else. Workout what you want in thise four walls that noone else can offer and you have discovered the club culture you are striving for and the main reason talent will sign. Without it the club will remain soulless and have to wait for the next crop of juniors we develop to come through and hope noone poaches them the next time. Sorry for the long post its a huge issue for us fans and the club and one that has many needs inorder to be met.
Very well said @05wt05 I feel you have hit the nail rite on it's head, so to speak.

G'day @05wt05 A 'stable' Wests Tigers has only come about IMO since Wests Ashfield stepped in and took complete control of our club.

Previous to that there was too much in-fighting and 'troubles' generally, of which 1 long retired ex player and 3 recent ex players in particular IMO were the main cause.
As those players are now gone, and hopefully 3 will never return, Management can now carry on in a positive way and concentrate on building our player and player support roster without the 'troubles' being front and foremost.

IMO it looks like we have done very well with player support and coaches and I feel it may take 12 months of consolidation with our current players along with building our young ones up for next year.

If we can't get the players we 'need' rather than want, we shouldn't be buying anyone, and for me there are too many if's, but's and maybe's about Latrell Mitchell to be paying him $1,000,000. I would love to be wrong with this though.

Finally.......100% agree that never getting another quote from Elias, Siro or Blocker can only be good for our club.......it's time for those old fossills to step back and let the current board who appear to be doing a good job in laying the foundations of a great club, get on and continue doing that.
Have a great day and a Happy and Safe Christmas :v: :christmas_tree: :level_slider: :santa:

Well here we are 1 week into December and we have signed 1, 1st grade player, and that just covers the grub that walked out on us. for as long as I can remember we have never had a sack full of cap to spend, yet u would think that we are still in the dark ages of years gone by. it appears lomax has resigned at the dragons for just $300,000 per season , gee we could have top that u would have thought. not much left on the shelf , and to be honest I don't want LM at the club, bloke seems to have a screw lose or his management team does. cant see where we are going to snare a dominant front rower from, or a class back before the start of the season.

I have not seen or heard it reported anywhere that the figure was as low as $300,000, and you would have to seriously question why a 20 year old would sign themselves up to a figure that low over a 6 year contract. Do you hear/see numbers and then halve them to make the Tigers look worse? Clearly that kid did not sign up for $300,000 with multiple clubs chasing him and an eye on a fullback jersey...

Bit of sense here ..... totally agree.
Plus I’m sure there will be opportunity That emerges before 30th June next year window to sign an emerging star player and if we hold fire with waisting $s and top 30 spots now ..... then we can do business when that time comes.
It’s not as if we are positioning to win the comp next year ,,.. small steps to improve should be the “realistic” target.

its been quiet days at the club......... and i prefer it that way.....no leakage no nothing.......let the signing come as a surprise from the Tigers Website.....sort of how the re signing of talau and twal happend.....

I'm going to throw a bit of a wild card entry into the mix for fullback

I think somebody like Damian McKenzie would be a interesting acquisition. Before you say who, he has played 23 games for the all blacks, he is super quick, a great goal kicker, defends well and has the best set of hands I've seen for a long time.

Have a look and see what you think

You may not be aware that Paul Sironen has had a lot to do with the Balmain juniors and is highly respected among Tiger (Balmain) supporters as well as the RL community generally. These juniors feed into the WTs system which I note above you strongly support.

Players of the calibre of Aaron Woods, Mitchell Moses, Luke Brooks, Alex Seyfarth, Curtis Sironen, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Adam Douehi, Junior Tatola, Moses Suli, Curtis Wilson and young Brendan Turneth have all emerged from Balmain.

Please be respectful of the feelings Balmain supporters who also support WTs.

Correct me if I’m wrong but a lot of people used to say that Koirobete and JAC were very quick but couldn’t tackle. They both seem to have improved in that department.

I wonder why Dufty can’t improve?

They also said they couldn’t catch. Boy can they run though.
