Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think for Tedesco and Woods to leave now is disappointing, losing Tedesco in particular, I don't know who we can target who can realistically replace him. Maybe Dugan but at least we'll have the money to chase someone decent.

Not sure how many really want to know this (Deleted some of the stuff not really relevant to us)

If we had sense we'd target Gagai. But we know that we don't so we'll end up targeting Hoppa :frowning:

Im happy to lose Woods.

If we were to lose Tedesco as well i think Clearly may look to go in another direction. With Teddy here he may be happy to have a decent 5/8, but if Teddy goes he may look to up the ante for a 6 and go hard for Foran or Johnson and go with a solid 1 like Gordon.

Hey relax, hoppa is a very solid centre, would be available for half gagais price. Forget what you think in regards to the strike centre's, you just need one that is agile and solid in defence with a bit of a passing game the wingers are the important signings.
Our key over the next couple of years is to have a balanced squad.
I'm stoked Woods is leaving, I'd be resigning grant and ava on the double, theyve already shown themselves to be club men and will be vital to achieving a well balanced squad.
If tedesco goes. Well its only likely to be the roosters so that gives us Michael Gordon as a gimme.
The last bloke that we need to given half decent money to be signed is Aidan Guerra.
Could you imagine us saying we have a queensland origin backrow?
And finally if the cards fall in our lap James Graham for a couple of years?
And if we lose tedesco with that money we could lure S JOHNSON.
Him and Foran have an apparen't love affair that won't survive if overseas or even interstate.
Foran at the dogs and SJ with us, you know it makes sense!

The restraints are off now.

Now we know where we are Cleary can start assembling the the team that he wants with not many restrictions at all.

We probably now have one of the biggest caps left in the comp.

Let's put it to good use !.

If Tedesco leaves, Cleary and the club aren't gonna throw in the towel and call it a day. Cleary is going to look at getting a marquee player to fill the void. It might not be a fullback, Cleary could get a cheaper fullback and go big on a new five-eight. So, who should we be looking at getting for next year if this eventuates? I'm thinking we should make a big play for Shaun Johnson and look at Gagai for fullback.

Here's a possibility;

ST George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has denied there is a rift between him and club management over the future of Josh Dugan.

The NSW star’s tenure at Wollongong beyond the 2017 NRL season is up in the air with his management at odds with the club over his asking price. The sticking point is that Dragons management have tabled him a three-year contract worth a reported $2.2 million and told him they see him as their long- term centre.
While the deal would make him the highest-paid centre in the game, Dugan has stated his future is in the fullback jersey and has therefore demanded a marquee contract and is said to have set an asking price of around $1 million a season.

Please no.

Dugan is a good player but he's not worth 1 mil. Probably the best fullback option if Teddy has pulled the pin.

Agree, but not at 1million, you may get him for $750 to $800k with the guarantee of the fullback job.

Here's my suggestion if/when woods Tedesco go.

Sign Hopoate to play centre
Sign lolohea to play fullback
Sign mead to play wing
Sign packer and vete for front row
Sign guerra as a backrow
Sign Shaun Johnson.

Is it a dream? Probably. But financially the club can do it

Can't see us attracting anyone of note. If these guys have moved on we might win 1-2 games before Origin and 0 after. Well become lesss and less attractive

Sorry mate, but I just wanted your opinion one more time.

Woods - Leaving
Tedesco - Staying

That or different?
