We need a 1 and we’ve already signed Laurie so really there was no benefit imo the Pamfers keeping him ..

Hobbo,if Madge didnt hand out an olive branch to JTJ then Momo would be in the centres with BJ,Madge and the Jet go back awhile and he is taking a punt on Jimmy doing the right thing and recapturing his old origin form...Momo is a far better player than a 4th stringer cup player,thats why Penrith want him and Momo can play centre...dont forget when Momo did the swap deal he had a 2 year extention for us when he came back....things change and Momo was expecting an NRL spot when he came back....good luck to him and I hope he does very very well for himself,he is a quality person and I think unfair diatribe cast at him could leave some people with egg on their face....

We rarely agree , but I ? agree with you here . There’s no way on earth we let him go to Melbourne ,If he was at all in our first team plans . He’s caught between generations here .

5 weeks and a trial might work .....

You play your best side .....and if you tell him just to follow the ball and look for second phase ball he should still go OK

Defence will be the big issue though ....that can take months .....

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the signing of Daine Laurie, effective immediately, after the talented youngster was granted a release from the final year of his contract with the Penrith Panthers.

Having originally signed a two-year deal with the club for the 2022 and 2023 NRL seasons, Laurie will now link up with his new club for the start of the 2021 NRL season.

In addition to the signing of Laurie, Wests Tigers have confirmed that centre Paul Momirovski has been released from the final year of his contract to join the Penrith Panthers.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Laurie to the club and thanked Paul for his service.

“We were extremely pleased to secure Daine from the start of the 2022 season and to have him join us earlier than expected is a great boost,” Pascoe said.

“Daine is clearly an exceptional talent and we’re very excited to see him take the next steps in his rugby league career in a Wests Tigers jersey.
I’d also like to thank Paul for his efforts since joining Wests Tigers in 2019,” Pascoe said. “Paul is a fine young man who has endeavoured to improve both himself and the team since arriving to the club and we wish him nothing but the best for the future.

Laurie will join his new Wests Tigers teammates as the squad travels to Tamworth today as part of its 2021 preparations.

While I was a big Momo fan, this could be best for all concerned.

It also suggests the club is confident in BJ and Roberts, which is very positive.

Agree with what you are saying if it is true and this deal comes off.

Pretty sure this is a positive for both clubs and players but sorry all the same to see Momo go.

Have no doubts what so ever that Momo will play 1st grade over there and will get a shot at finals footy if he stays healthy.

Can just see all the whinging and whining from some of this crowd over here when Momo kills it over there.

UPDATE: just saw the email come in from Wests Tigers that the deal is done.

He is super quick too , if you watch his highlight videos where he gets 1 on 1 with the opposition full back on more than the odd occasion, he burns them with ease.

Just nail the fundamentals, it will be his 1st year in grade so i am not expecting miracles

That's what I'm hoping happens. Very impressed we've signed so much young talent (our average age of the squad has dropped significantly the last two years) but we need to keep them all together creating that bond and culture for years and years.

I’d be surprised if Laurie starts the season at fullback

I would very much like Laurie to start at 5/8, a position we are currently very short in, he can progress to fullback as he improves in the tackling requirements for that important fullback position.

I think most clubs would happily have Talau,Stefano,Laurie,Simpkin and Blore.If all these kids live up to their potential we are in for some good years.
