Easts would be the team to beat in 2018 with the Puppet Master on board.

I would give anything to have Cronk at WT. One of the best half backs of all time and a player you can build a side around. Makes Brooks look like amateur hour.

Easts verses Storm in the 2018 Grand Final would be very interesting.

You would be joking making a comparison between a 22 year old starting out and a player now in his 30's at the end of his career beggers belief.

Of course he makes him look like an amateur.

Cronk would never come to the Tigers - that is ok we have a half back!

He is good but he has had a great dummy half inside of him and a great fullback running off him. It'll be interesting how he goes next year. I think he is the worst player out of the big 3.

It will also be interesting how Brooks develops. There is a lot to like about Brooks game. He is fast, defends now reasonably well for a half, his long kicking game is great and he has shown a decent short kicking game. His passing game is reasonable as well. He doesn't though seem to have the footy brain that other players have but he might go well in a team with good players all over the park.

I think with Brooks a lot of it comes down to confidence. He still needs to back himself more.

The chooks would definitely be the team to beat with the "Puppet Master" in control, but Cam is staying in Melbourne. Though he is no doubt a good player, I will hold my final judgement on Cronk until he is without Cam running the show and the other grub chiming in.

That said, he will still have good cattle around and I think Pearce would make a great nine and suit him more than Friend. After they teach Tedesco to run straight again they also have a runner with skill in Keary that will assist his game, just think he won't look nearly as good when the influence of the greatest grub ever is missing.

If they play Cronk at 7 and Pearce at 9, round 1 will be a good time to get them. Throw in Tedesco at 1, and their spine will probably need time to gel.

Yeah except we got a new spine too.

Call me a cynic but does anyone believe the Cronk charade? I mean has this been an exercise in buying time for TPAs to be organised (independent of course of the "Sydney Club").

No not cynical at all. For what it’s worth I posted earlier in the thread that a deal has been in place secretly since earlier this year that IF Cronk decided to go around again it would be the rorters and only the rorters. So says a well connected eastern suburbs “board member” that I know.

Agree there is no comparrison

But from now on Cronk will not get any better and will loose form. Brooks on the other hand will only improve so I think the gap will between them will decrease over the next year or 2.

I know where my money would be spent for the long term viability of the club

I will lose all respect for Cronk if he decides to join the Rorters. Ultimate thuggery.

Yeah me too but you'd think that with any Sydney team apart from tigers. Wish panthers would take him with a transfer with cleary to us.

I think the Tigers would be smart to target Jake Friend or Taukaeihu from the Roosters if the Cronk rumours are true. Both would be massive upgrades at lock/backrower or hooker.

If the roosters flick Jake Friend, they will really miss a guy that make 40+ tackles a game.
Players like that are not easily replaced.
Not that I care as I dislike like the Roosters just as much as Manly.

We have a potential halfback.
I would swap anyone we have so far, for Cronk. We don't have a leader anywhere near him on the field, and the halfback so far hasn't shown that he can dominate a game. despite the fact that most of us have been Hoping he would.
His best game for us still is his first game. He hasnt seemed to be able to get to that standard
Again. Still we can all hope.

He averaged a tick over 50 tackles a game in 2017 after averaging over 53 tackles a game in 2016\. He's a machine.

Not a rumour or a signing suggestion,
But….
Cooper Cronk will play on!

Well it might not be a rumour but given we are one of the few clubs with cash Im going to make it a signing suggestion. Sign Cronk for HB - Now I'm Brooks fan but imagine what he could learn for 2 yrs playing wth Cronk and training with Cronk

He won't come here. He wants another premiership and no one pays in brown bags like the roosters. They are now reporting jakefriend has been told to look elsewhere with Pearce or friend to play hooker.

These privileged arseholes won't stop until they have bought themselves a Premiership. Their play for, and subsequent acquisition of, every marquee player that comes on the market makes a complete mockery of the supposed fairness of the NRL competition. I hope they over-spend themselves into oblivion and never win another Premiership ever again!

As much as I agree with you, I am quite comfortable in knowing that for next year we will have 2 serviceable halfbacks to the tune of possibly $800,000 if we need (Brooks and Benji). Makes me quite confident in the fact we secured Brooks for half the amount the other 2 young guns are looking at for their next contract. Taylor and Cleary both being mooted at receiving $1000000 dollar season contracts. Is Brooks really half as good as these 2?
Further that these contracts affect the balance of the squad. I believe only one player in next years 28 players signed will not have played NRL yet. Gamble. How's that for depth.
And since I started this chain. I actually don't mind the roosters signing Cronk. It will make beating them all the more sweeter. And if they do manage to keep all the first side together, they have a couple of handy depth players that wouldn't be bad to pick up like Nikorima, Cornish or any other Wyong players.

As long as TPA's are not capped and can be unlimited then there is no such thing as an even playing field. When the NRL decide to pull their finger out and regulate it, then we will go back to seeing player talent evenly spread.
