Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Funny story. I made a derogatory comment about Jarryd Hayne on a fan page once, and not long after got a friend request from Manoa Thompson, his old man.

Interested to know why both sides agreed on one year for Mikaele.

1 year is a bit weird eh?

I’m happy with it, a bit of improvement lately but he’s hardly set the world on fire.

I agree.

Just not sure why just the one year.
Surely had better offers elsewhere.

Not sure he walks into too many other sides other than off the pine. IMO needs to learn to run a hole and a bit suspect in defense when tiring.

Not sure this is that fair, he’s still only very young for a middle. Look at Paseka he was a very big talented junior with us, the seagulls snapped him up and it’s taken years for him to establish himself as a first grader. Not everyone is a payne in the hass, he’s a freak! To me he’s a shining light one of a few to bend the line in our squad, the rest will come with time if managed well.

He's a Queenslander and there's another QLD club there in a year's time so it seems strange

yeah wierd hey. You'd think mikaele would want more security than that and youd think we'd offer at least 2 years...maybe 2nd brisbane team as someone mentioned...

Hopefully can get Seyfarth for 2/3 years. Feel his best footy is still to come - reckon he could put on 3-5kgs and be our starting 13 either 2022 or 2023.

Seyfarth has passion and that is in short supply.

Just ignored it. I think my settings at the time were you could only PM me if you on my friends list.

Also Momirovski showing tonight his hands still as bad as Talau’s.

Yea I noticed that when he cut through two defenders and scored that try.

Kikau is much more valuable than TPJ IMO. Just having him on the field opens opportunities for others.

A lot of money to pay for a door.

Interesting post on the club's Facebook page.
Luke Garner's mum having a go at people who commented on a picture of Luke on a bike as part of his rehab.
Funny thing is that after she commented they all shut up and messages of support was the new trend.
Well done mumma Garner.

Garner is the last player fans should be giving it to. He’s on a modest contract and in all honesty is probably out playing it. No world beater but a solid player. Lucky Mbye wasn’t riding a bike.

Ok so he isnt the quickest or most explosive player we have seen but i thought he showed some good touches in those highlights.

Showed patience at times, seems to read the play pretty well for a young guy. More a footballer than an athlete is how id look at him.

A project player who needs some good coaching to reach NRL level.

There is no X factor about him.

He's an 18 year old high school kid who's played some Q cup....

Such negativity mate, are you OK?

Seriously, tough crowd huh?

Welcome aboard and good luck to the young man!

He's probably still pinching himself that his journey towards (possibly) playing at the highest level has started.

The Reece Walsh/Sam Walker types are exceptional and very rarely seen. Even they still need work and development...

Lol looking at some of the comments about a young kid signing I might have to keep it to myself in future. So much negativity in here.

The West’s Tigers social media guys must have the hardest job in the biz. Imagine trying to uplift the supporters years after years of misery?

Sort of related but

I remember a funny incident many years ago when Luke Lewis (might have only been his 3rd or 4th game) was playing for Penrith V St George. Some dragons supporter was giving Lewis crap from the sidelines, until his dad confronted him and went “that’s my son you’re abusing” and nearly decked him. Good times

A few years ago now, but Wests played Parramatta at Campbelltown on a Monday night (Koro scored 4) and my mate got us some tix into a room there with a whole bunch of people we didn't really know. We found our seats at the start of the game and I'd already decided to give Ben Roberts a bit of a serve after he'd played a horrible game against us earlier that year (the game we led 31-0 but won 31-30). First set they come over towards the sideline and being more than a few deep by that stage I'm up and about giving it to him from the stands, when the lady sitting next to us starts looking at us giving me absolute daggers. I kept going and Roberts absolutely tore us apart in the first half all the while copping death stares from the next seats down. Turns out it was Ben's Mum and family. We had a chat at half time where I gave him credit (he had played pretty well) and by the end of the night we were all good and everyone had a great time. Lucky too, his family have some big boys who would've had me running in the other direction if it hadn't been taken in good faith.

Bit disappointing, isn't it?

I, and I'm sure there's others: appreciate any news like this. Thanks for sharing!

Kid looks very promising IMO.
Wishing him much success.

Salty hey.

Think we need more talk about the youngsters coming through and being signed as that is the clubs focus at the moment, really the only thing we can be abit optimistic about atm, be good to hear more about these kids, where their skill levels are at
