**Storm legend names intriguing destination for Eels skipper**

Melbourne Storm icon Cameron Smith has named the Wests Tigers as the team which should make a play for the reportedly attainable Parramatta Eels captain Clint Gutherson.

Smith is of the belief Gutherson could attract big money, especially from a team such as the Tigers who are in need of a major leadership presence

Then we definitely shouldn’t go for Gutho.

Depends how much Gutho is asking - one thing he does particularly well, which Laurie struggles with is support play - we've hardly ever got someone in a position to take an offload and make something of it. It also opens up another dimension to the WT spine, as I think Laurie would make a good 6 - I think Doueihi is ok there, but his ball service can be lacking robbing our outside backs of opportunity. If we're talking 1 million, no thanks, but if it's around the 800k mark, I think it's worth considering.

The question is, where do the WT rate Gutho on their value scale?

What do you do with Laurie?

Play him at 6.

Hey Willow,I have a question for you in regards to the lower grades that Im not familiar with....

If their season has ended early as Covid takes hold.will KOE Cup,Flegg etc continue on as usual next year with the same players or will we lose players that may have been reasonable depth for us this year..?

He makes a lot of sense on that interview and good to hear he dropped a few names in the current squad who he's obviously keen to keep long term and build the squad around.

The focus is clearly on developing youth so I'm very interested to hear who may pick up development contracts for next season and whether we can keep the bulk of this years' Jersey Flegg squad together.

We have had 3 competent coaches in our history. Tim Sheens, Ivan Cleary and Madge. One ran his race the other ran away. The club has to stick to their plan and not buckle under media pressure.

They know what they offered players like Latrell, Fox, Finucane, TPJ. Evidently they know we have to pay overs to get top tier talent. Wisely they will build and attract top tier players when we are a better footy team.

Well next year Madge has the tools there to push for a 7th or 8th placed finish. Needs to start getting his team selections

Unfortunately 'big name' often just means someone who's well known at our club and that they played origin a few times 7 years ago ?

Mr Manu.

He's been hinting that for a while now.

But yes saying is planning for next 3 years on recruits to complement our young guns.

anyone can plan for the next few years though. I could go to Zero Tackle right now, formulate a list of players coming off contract in positions that may need filling in the coming years, estimate the worth of up and comers as well and then come up with 30 possible team lists for the next 2 years.

as Madge says, we're in a great spot with our cap, but we absolutely need to land a marquee in some form to help our young players grow. we have the youngest squad in the league. need to beef it up with experience and leadership.

I said Joseph Paulo, coz his made a comment he likes Brooks as a halfback.

But I’ve said it before I’d prefer to sign Moses Leota and break up the Panthers front row. Think he could be a good value signing. Would easily be on less than 400k currently at Penrith.

Sarcasm ? Isn’t woods in the top 5 for missed tackles in the forwards ? No no no. We only have Tamou for one year, no need to sign another ageing player with a declining skill set.

TBH, I wouldn’t care if he was the best front rower in the game, he did the dirty on us, I hope he never darkens our door again.

I wouldn't put cleary in there. I think he manages teams well but his recruitment is dreadful. Even at Penrith choosing Edwards and getting rid of Laurie shows a lack of foresight. I could be wrong, we'll see what he does with his brilliant squad, but he buried us for years with what he did to us. Both Sheens and Madge have had a clear style of play and an approach to recruitment. Might not be perfect but there's intention and clarity there. Cleary was a mess.

Don’t forget getting rid of burton who looks to be a superstar in the making .

I will hold off calling him a superstar until he plays at the dogs and doesn't have all the class around him. When all the SOO players were out and the team replied on him he was not playing near as good. Not saying he is not a good player but it's a diffent ballgame when you play in average squads compared to top line ones.

I would swap him for Brooks in a heartbeat
