Burton is a better than good player now - the only question for me is how good.

He makes a lot of sense on that interview and good to hear he dropped a few names in the current squad who he's obviously keen to keep long term and build the squad around.

The focus is clearly on developing youth so I'm very interested to hear who may pick up development contracts for next season and whether we can keep the bulk of this years' Jersey Flegg squad together.

We have had 3 competent coaches in our history. Tim Sheens, Ivan Cleary and Madge. One ran his race the other ran away. The club has to stick to their plan and not buckle under media pressure.

They know what they offered players like Latrell, Fox, Finucane, TPJ. Evidently they know we have to pay overs to get top tier talent. Wisely they will build and attract top tier players when we are a better footy team.

Well next year Madge has the tools there to push for a 7th or 8th placed finish. Needs to start getting his team selections

Unfortunately 'big name' often just means someone who's well known at our club and that they played origin a few times 7 years ago ?

what tools does he have next year that he doesnt have this year, unless Gildart is in fact a really high quality centre?

The only issue I have with Gildart at this stage he seems
Injured a lot .. fast forward to next season when he lines up in a comp that is reliant on heavy defence I feel he will be in rehab more than on the park TBF.

I realise stats don’t tell the full story but his stats are very impressive.

he's got it all. wicked boot, deceptively quick, great footwork, throws a great pass and looks composed at all times. Bulldogs have got a good one there.

I think he’s up there with the best props in the game.

Very nice guy too, always makes his way down to my younger brother’s U/14’s team’s training and runs plays, gives them tips etc.

Have you seen the player Stefano is now vs the start of the year? Laurie and Doueihi have also grown a lot.

I’m also hopeful we’ll have the likes of Dillon and Ogden at the club pushing for first grade.

It’s not all about external signings. In saying that, I’m sure they’ll be a few before pre-season starts.

yeah i dont disagree but i still dont think we have a finals squad next year. Ofter hear it said you arent really a first grader until youve played 50 games. I think our inexperience will be telling for another year yet.

Him, Tyrell Sloan, Talatau Amone and the Feagai brothers are some of the biggest young hopes for st George. All of them apart of the 2019 winning nsw cup side I’m pretty sure. I’d be surprised to see them let him go as I’m fairly sure he’s touted to take the 6 jersey full time at some point next season.

If our strategy is to target the best youth we'd have to be a good chance to get him. We have massive amounts of salary cap to spend next season. We can't get the top established players, this is the next best.

That's real small for a footballer, literally same height and weight as me and footy players dwarf me. Having said that mates who follow the Dragons have said huge wraps on him.

They were apart of the Illawarra SG ball winning side.

Sullivan was the pick of the bunch in that team but after seeing him play a few reserve grade / NRL games he’s been been pretty underwhelming. Maybe because he only weighs 80 odd kegs but Sloan / Amone look better atm
