I hope it is, he is talking about Elliot.

are you sure though? like yeah, he hasn't shut it down but I thought he was intimating that the player we're after is currently contracted. could be wrong though, hope I'm not. I don't want Elliott either.

If the player is still contracted I'm leaning more towards either Taupau, Thompson or Sims.

That would be HUGE.

If that happened, and we got Jason Taumalolo, then there should deadset by an investigation by the Cowboys into the person who made that decision to let him go because it would be very very suspicious.

It'd be Todd's fault clearly.

leadership is critical in the new recruits-
but for which positions?

The fourms has mentioned:
- Experienced Prop to go with stef
- Ball playing lock (depending on brooks/Hastings/AD)
- Hard hitting 2nd row
- Defensive centre
- Back up fullback

1. Centre
2. 2nd row
3. Starting Forward
4. Utility

To bring in a ball playing lock the team really needs a top forward to partner stef, otherwise their is not enough go forward, Seyfarth, Hastings and Luciano Could do the job for now

Considering how much we’ve been proven to leak, I doubt any potential signing will be broken on LU and not by Chammas/Hooper/Read etc

Stef had comparisons to Payne Haas before he came into first grade and we gave him a huge deal as an unproven teenager for that exact reason. Obviously he's developed well, but I would be hesitant to heap any praise on Madge for it.

Makes sense. Lets give no praise to Madge for developing a player that Madge has spent 5-6 days a week with and instead give praise to Finucane who spent 5 days with him. I think that is the point some are making here.

This for me sums up the situation well. A true superstar will be a superstar regardless of the coach. (Yes sometimes an individual needs a little direction or inspiration) BUT the individual needs to make the most of their natural talent, take responsibility, pull their finger out and have a crack. Something I’m certain many of our first graders are not doing and don’t like it when they are called out for it. Hence the self perpetuating poor culture.

But Stef is. Of course that is due to his own hard work and ethics, but the quarantining of Madge from any praise is ridiculous.

I will give Madge credit for Luciano and Doueihi though - they've both improved as players since coming. I just don't think he's really done anything as far as Stef's development is concerned.

Makes zero sense. All three have improved, but you pick and choose who Madge helped?

Statements like that make you wonder how long we can hang on to Stef because he obviously reveled in all that and they would be things that I don't think he would currently be experiencing at the Wests Tigers.

Unless we can provide that same sort of atmosphere at the Wests Tigers sometime soon then money alone won't be enough to hang onto a young player like him that has ambition and is obviously striving to reach an elite level and the success that comes with it.

I think we're banking on the kids to exhibit those ideals, i.e. "pull themselves up by their bootstraps."

I think that's a pretty big ask, hope it happens but not all that confident.

Yes, i agree.

IMO what percentage of credit goes where is not important. I’ve always thought making Madge the scapegoat would not achieve anything because many of our players are not taking responsibility for their own failings. IMO a new coach won’t change that mentality for these particular players.

It’s also why I comment on posts that insinuate that Sheens coming over the top somehow belittles Madge (even though this is not the power hierarchy anyway).

If everyone works hard and has the club success as their agenda then things will start to improve.

It’s interesting that the dogs are keen to fill up their roster prior to preseason. I don’t necessarily believe it means they need to move players on to keep everyone but;
It does mean that they have no room for promotion.
Take players like Schoop and Biondi Odi for instance;
No way the dogs saw them making the step up so quickly.
Now I’d have no idea of where their junior development is at but I hazard a guess there isn’t much on the horizon.
As soon as someone pokes their nose through though, look out as that when the Dogs will be forced to make some roster changes.
