Exactly. Didn’t Pascoe meet some guy in Big W and said we were holding out for more money. Now we’ll just pay his whole wage. Makes no sense

We need to learn how to squeeze their canasta a bit harder, make them squeal, ( just like Gene Hackman in Mississippi Burning).
We have the upper hand, they want Hodgson gone and an idiot as backup.

Last I heard (a week ago) offer was on table and was up to Hodgson’s management and raiders to work out how much raiders would cover. The issues with Starling will not effect this deal at all but raiders not paying enough might

It’s no surprise all the usual culprits are bagging the Hodgson signing. We have no leaders, simple as that. Liddle is bog average and has clearly been told he’s not apart of this clubs long term ambitions, further emphasised by Simpkins long term contract. Hodgson for 2 years is the ideal mentor for Simpkin and at no real damage to the salary cap.

I am happy to be lumped with the "usual suspects" if it means thinking signing a 32 year old, hot off the worst season he has had in the NRL is a bad idea.

I thought as a supporter base, we were tired of signing all these over the 30 year olds. Yet the majority seemed enthusiastic about Peachy, and now there’s excitement about possibly signing Hodgson. In a position we have covered btw.

So many here complaining we haven't got any leadership, we lack experience and when a player with 270 games experience and a current test player for his nation is mentioned they crap the bed and say he's too old.

I know it may come as a shock, but not everyone here has the same opinion. It is possible to not have complained about the leadership and think Hodgson would be a dud signing.

So we don’t need leaders if they become available ?

We need quality, which the 2021 version of Hodgson is not

You could hire him for cheap as a NR9 coach. But what of Robbie Farah? Really is it worth wasting Cap space for Josh?

I dont get it. Yes Raid the Raiders. We need forwards and defense and they have that in spades. But not a 32 year old Hooker, Liddle is om good cap money he needs to perform or out he goes.

I think it’s an admission that Simpkin is not ready , and liddle isn’t an 80 min player . I honestly don’t see the issue if it’s 400-500k for 2 years . It allows Simpkin to really hone his craft for the magpies , and Liddle to not have the responsibility of being the number 1 choice . Perfect world , Liddle has a career path that’s similar to Cook , where he doesn’t establish himself until his mid 20s , which is right in line with Hodgson finishing up .
And if he’s garbage ? There will always be a super league team willing to pay for the current English number 9 .
It’s a no brainer really . But each to thier own . I understand why your not pumped about it .
