One thing we do know is any chance of Thompson signing with us would appear to be almost nil. Too risky to sign an anti-vaxxer who's also in suspension trouble. He'll be back in England by next season.

Has the club made a stance on the vaccinations yet? I think he’d be a good signing but need clarity on whether he’d be allowed to play. Would add a lot to our pack

He likely wouldn't be allowed to play in Victoria or Queensland, depending on the draw that's a quarter of the season.

At his salary, and with our squad having so few spaces left, it's just too big of a gamble to sign someone that isn't a team player

That’s fair enough. I didn’t think of that. Back to the UK it is

I like the guy as a player but he becomes less appealing by the day. He doesn’t seem like the kind of player we need in terms of leadership and he’s likely to miss big chunks of the season through suspension or travel bans. He is also in huge money already so probably won’t come cheap.

When Pole hits the NRL you'll wonder what the fuss about Thompson was all about.

Assuming it’s true, if he’s on the nose with one club, he’d be on the nose with them all. Considering how seriously the NRL have treated Covid, a player like him would cause nothing but headaches.

If he won't get vaccd he doesn't deserve to play in the NRL. Go get a real job and more than likely be forced to vaccinate anyway and work for a smigenth of the $$ hes currently on.

Fonua Pole from Flegg?

Mole article also saying Canberra want Liddle for Hodson. Maybe we do a player swap again? We cover the disparity in salaries, they get Liddle for a year and we get Hodson. Both sides can reassess after the year, whether to go again with the same arrangement or swap back.

Canberra can have Liddle provided they promise not to give him back.

A good side like the Raiders want Liddle. With that big pack and great second row and lock he would do well. They would be getting a far better deal than WTs.

And then in twelve months when he's fully over his injuries and fit and firing everyone will want him back. This seems like good insurance.

Jake's a very good young player and would likely thrive in Canberra with some of those big boppers like Papalii around him provided he can stay fit and presuming he wants to go. Hodgson is tough and clever and even at 32 is just what we need for a year or two until Simpkin is ready to step up.

Which is why doing swap is a good idea for the Tigers. The Raiders get their 2nd hooker for the year, but we get him back if Hodson busts or breaks or Liddle goes gang busters. Only costs us the extra $, which we finally have a bit of.

Probably reads the forums for info like a few of them do. They may get some oil, but deals fall through anyway, whether reported or not. He seems better than most though.
