Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I would imagine they would trade simpkin for 1 year only considering he’s signed till 2024 then we would get him back at the end of 2022 we get api a year early and Simpkin gains great experience playing for the best team in the nrl

With Cotric heading back to Canberra I’m 100% confident that James Roberts will get a new contract for 2022 Thompson could still happen to fill our squad because I reckon that the final 2 spots will be 1 back and 1 forward the back is definitely JTJ if its not its one of our lower grade players and the final spot could be that guy we signed from Knights Christian I think his name is if we aren’t trying for Thompson

Giving JTJ an NRL contract is admitting defeat for 2022 before it begins. He's nowhere near good enough anymore

There’s simply not enough talent left on the market most likely it is JTJ unless we either promote one of our lower grade players or another Centre becomes available before next season although I’m not confident of that happening

All of the players who swap clubs, none of them are 'available'. We have what 700k to spend,if we waste 100k on a proven failure like Roberts it would be a terrible show of desperation and failure.
He's on a t+t contract. If we have injuries and need him then he can play, but there's absolute no need to waste any time or money on wanted up has beens.

Like I said not enough talent left on the market so unless Tigers are gonna try and do a swap for a Centre it’ll be JTJ or they’ll promote one of our lower grade players

Like I said, there's hundreds of players available

There’s plenty available for 23 but who is available for 22 apart from promoting our lower grade guys?

Panthers wouldn’t agree to that

Interesting. A Harry Grant/Melbourne sort of deal. Although I think it is reported they already declined but I wouldn't have been averse to that...

My son is in the bulldogs under 14 development squad. They had training at Belmore today followed by watching the first grade team train (Luke Thompson was there). Interesting to see Barrett and even Phil Gould there. Barrett had almost nothing to do in the training session but pave up and down. Interesting to see how important the trainers are and assistant coaches as they were heavily involved.

JuniorTapau might yet surprise, Selwyn Cobbo at the Bronx came from nowhere to be a fixture in first grade

Needs to as he is taking a top 30 spot.

So is Cobbo, what’s your point ?

Nothing that I can add, only express again that for WT to succeed, every player in the top 30 needs to be able to contribute.

If we trade Simpkin to get Api a year early it will prove to be one of the all time classic short sighted blunders this team has made

I am fairly sure nobody is suggesting we do

I will. Our WT have made a top shelf nine signing that will most probably be here until the end of 2025, so I cannot imagine why we wouldn't want that same player here immediately and hold on to a youngster instead of making it happen.

I expect that both Simpkin and Liddle have been put forward as part of a possible arrangement and would be both disappointed and surprised if that's not the case, whether short term or permanent.

Offering up contracted players to other clubs is all well and good when and if it comes off, but can't then question why players jump first when and if opportunity knocks.

We have 2 spots left and I'd:angry: https://weststigersforum.com/compose?tid=25895&title=Signing%20Suggestions%20&%20Rumours use them for a starting prop and a starting centre - at the moment IMO those are the 2 positions that we need to help us to step up a notch.

Starting to really miss the footy.

The weather is cold enough to feel like its footy season

So much of "it will never flanner again"!

Melbourne suggesting a Stefano/Smith deal is a shot across our bow,n a sneaky way of letting the kid know he is wanted elsewhere with out breaking protocol.by all means loan Liddle out,his days are numbered with us.top clubs have nothing 2 loose the grass is always greener there,

Isn’t the difference being that the club owns the contract and pays for the privilege?

Players come and go, but only if the club agrees.

Honestly wouldn’t be shocked if Thompson starts the season at the dogs and he’s a mid season transfer to somewhere.

Didn’t happen with Grant and Momo?

But of course, if we don’t tie up our star players, they will be snatched, that’s footy.

Ok , Thompson not happy at dogs , I believe he has had contact again with the tigers , money is the hurdle . This from same source that told me cotric had signed with the raiders

Heard that before….Thompson can be as unhappy as he wants, that ain’t going to change anything…the issue is $$$ and the two clubs are poles apart, with neither giving ground

That’s the only issue is the money that Thompson’s on not sure what we offered on our end but Dogs would have to chip in more than 100K if they really want Thomson off the books we do need another Prop to help Stefano and I think he does want to come to the Tigers probably due to Gildart being here but Dogs 100% gotta chip in more
