CONGRATULATIONS ?? Jimmy Ngutlik who has joined the Wests Tigers U21s from the Dolphins.Apparently he's 189cm & 90kgs there's a bit on goggle about him he's also known as Jimmy the Jet

Another Kumul which is excellent. What position does he play?

Here is an article on Ngutlik. He originates from East New Britain which is a beautiful island. He plays wing mainly.

Looks like Matt Burton is gonna backflip on the Dogs. Dogs looking at Milford as an alternative ?

Isn’t Burton signed & sealed ?

The dogs arnt a great organisation , but geez Ivan is a dishonest bloke . Why would you encourage someone to go back on thier word , and betray others trust like that .

Tears on the kennel in re to burton are sooooooooooooooooo good

Hardly . It’s an indictment on the game , and shouldn’t be something that’s celebrated . Penrith are just perfectly geographically located , it’s not like they went into Nigeria and developed these kids from nothing . They are the district for which a vast majority of Polynesian expats live . Sure they found a way to maximise that , but come on !
I’m such an advocate for the draft , and I disagree completely that “we shouldn’t punish development teams”. There’s only a finite amount of districts and players who are playing the game , let alone genetically suitable to play the game .
Anyways just my opinion .

I'm a bit hot and cold with what you said there:

-All teams are "geographically located" and probably 99.9% were not sourced from nigeria, not that i care if i they were (why even mention something like this at all?)

-Could you expand on what you meant by polynesians (and i quote) "They are the district for which a vast majority of Polynesian expats live" - Very confused in re where you are trying to go here especially in re to Matt burton loving life in a decent team.

-Draft eh idm im an american sports fan as well works there, probably wont here for another 50 years but you gotta start somewhere.

- Another quote I'd like you to spell out for me(apologies in advance i might just be dumb here)

"There’s only a finite amount of districts and players who are playing the game , let alone genetically suitable to play the game. Anyways just my opinion. "

I meant that if your district is Cabramatta , the population is going to be predominantly south east Asia . If it’s Canterbury Bankstown , predominately middle eastern . So from Penrith to seven hills , there’s a huge chunk of Polynesian kids out there , who live and breath rugby league/ Union . It’s fertile ground which would exist if the panthers were there or not .

The Nigeria thing is about if they hypothetically went to a country with no knowledge of the game and turned that into a huge nursery . I’m saying then I would understand how they’re so reluctant to a draft as that wouldn’t be fair , but that’s not how it is . They’re just in charge of the best nursery in the world , and sure they tapped into it , but that nursery would exist no matter what . And I don’t understand how in a country that has soo many options for sport , that we can be soo close minded about who gets the best juniors .
It’s like if the New York knicks were the only team who could get all the basketball players out of New York . (There’s heaps it’s hugely famous for producing amazing basketballers).

Or if only Real Madrid were the only team brasillians could play for .

Re the signing of Reynolds, Brown, and others.. Penrith has shown the way, and that is the blueprint we should follow.
We must look and plan for the future, and not buy players in their twilight years, we have been burnt badly in the past.
Do the Storm, Easts, Penrith etc buy players at their career ends ? Anxiety causes bad decicions, success takes time.
We must learn from the errors of the past.

In my mind we are already doing just that. We have learnt and the guys in charge of recruitment have done a fair job.

Yes it's like investing in shares and property, you buy at the bottom of the market, not at the top, otherwise you have only one way to go, and thats down! As the song goes,--YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD THEM, AND KNOW WHEN TO THROW THEM !

very smart the club never rushed Signing Liddle they knew what they had in Jake Simpkin use the Liddle money to try and go towards buying a centre along with Joey L money

I think they should still sign Liddle for 2022. He's a great back up option if Jake gets injured

I think Liddle is still a good player and deserves a crack at first grade at nrl he is better than a backup he is just not as good as Jake Simpkin

No doubt a quality player like Liddle will be snapped up by another club and come back to bite us.

he is not better than simpkin though so happy to lose him can't keep everyone

I hope Simpkin is better than Liddle.
But I can't say that he is based on 1 game.
If you're looking at Reserve grade games he didn't produce anything close to Liddle's performance last week.
At the moment Simpkin is still just a hype train that hasn't proven himself.

ok Dwight a Liddle 49 first grade game fan versus 1 game for Simpkin.
Luckily Madge does not agree with your assessment
Bar injury Liddle wont replace Simpkin this year

Simpkin may be replaced by Liddle at some point this year, and not just through injury, very definitely.

Just because Madge picked Simpkin last week over Luddle, that doesn't mean he thinks Simpkin is better than Liddle. It means last week (and this week), Madge thinks Simpkin can do the job better than Liddle in the game at hand. Maybe vs Dragons in a few weeks Madge wants a different plan and picks Liddle?

simpkin is signed and at present Liddle is not. if we dont move Mmbye on I can't see Madge resigning Liddle

Then they will still be looking to sign another specialist hooker for 2022 as just 1 specialist will not cut it

Mbye becomes the specialist 9

But he's not a specialist 9 and just saying so won't make it so...

M'Bye is not and probably never will be a capable hooker

then we have to buy someone else then as don't think we will keep Liddle he doesn't deserve to sit behind Simpkin if we have Mmbye we may aswell use him

Maybe letting Walters go without this (backup hooker) being sorted is somewhat unwise. Mbye is making, and has done, all the right signals and moves he is ready to go, but like everything he has to actually have a taker but it seems more than likely he will be gone at end of season. lf we also let Walters go with his contract expiring at ed of this season without trying to keep him or early identification and/or signing of this backup hooker we may be deep doo doo in 2022.

Who are some of these back ups? Jeremy Marshall-King from Dogs? Who else is out there without contract for next year and what team are they with?

This club couldn't handle another Marshall

Keep raiding the best juniors.

This isn’t the Premier League...you can’t come 18th this year and buy a new team of stars and come 4th the year after.

Look at the Dogs...big splurge for no return. Barrett is doing a Cleary at Bankstown.

The guys we’ve bought still haven’t gelled, but there’s talent there. They need time.

There’s no one great available on the market now, so let’s buy 2 or 3 Daine Laurie 2.0’s next year until someone decent comes along at a reasonable price.

The young talent identified by Hartigan is second to none. They’ve been some of our best players. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Totally agree. There's definitely enough talent there which makes it more frustrating. It wasn't too along ago most where happy with our recruitment leading up to rd1.
Our issue is more our cohesion in defense. .. many new players, new combinations. 1-17 up to now still major changes each week. In stages of team dynamics, we are nowhere near performing stage. Top 6 teams, generally have a set starters, minimal changes when someone is out & dynamics is not severely affected.. Us, be a while still..
Talent wise put the current jtj in a top4 team & we be like, we want him, so quick so dangerous. Corey Allan, Nick Cotric looked good last year.. now..

I believe the club is heading in the right direction recruitment wise.. we will get better, **well it can't get any worse** ?

Penrith is also closest to the Central West where Staines (Parkes), Burton (Dubbo), Yeo (Dubbo) plus Martin - Riverina (Temora) originate from.

Pascoe was behind the Panthers playing a home game in Bathurst and they set up do a lot of coaching in those Central West cities.
This is what WT are trying to tap into Tamworth and nearby cities.

Yeah they bought a club in Bathurst....

They actually put their own manager in the Leagues Club who sent it broke, then they just walked in and took over the club.

Dragons and Dogs are the two teams interested in Milford.

Xavier Coates and Staggs were both looking likely to stay at the Broncos, however Bellamy is has signed on to coach another season at Melbourne (2022) then he will move into a consultancy role which has seems to have convinced Coates to move to Melbourne. Papenhuyzen will also re-sign. Staggs will likely stay at Brisbane due to Gold Coast pulling their interest.

Naden had verbally agreed in to join from 2022 and was hoping for an early release this year, however dogs have offered more money (Eels interested but have not formally offered- Eels offer would be slightly less than ours). If he can get a release this year he will be at the Tigers. If not he may be at the dogs as the Tigers offer is only better if it includes this year.

Joey will be released at the end of the year at this stage with Mbye and Packer moving on. Amone, Mikaele and Seyfarth are playing for a new deal. Chee Kam and Walters will likely leave. Should have about 2.2million for next season depending on how much of Mbyes deal will be subsidised. That money will primarily focused on a winger, centre, second rower/lock. The club will likely sit back and see who becomes available throughout the year and at the end season for those spots. Very big emphasis on getting the "right" player rather than spending the money for the sake of it.

Any idea where Mbye is going? Roberts a possibility to stay? Surely they have some ideas of who in particular they want. Thanks for the info!

This is what WT are trying to tap into Tamworth and nearby cities.

Bathurst 2 hours further west makes sense for Penrith. How did we land on Tamworth 5 hrs north?
