So besides Dale Funicane who is available we could target ??
Even the Cheese is not available so our luck we might end up keeping Packer or Joey.. (god I hope not)
We don't need anymore juniors as we have plenty we desperately need experienced players so fingers crossed the powers have some sort of back up plan.
Our lower grades are doing well, we are going to need the cap sorted when the time comes to lock them up. There are some ruthless clubs which will stop at nothing to prey on our future stars.
Correct and with the inclusion of Sheen and Kimmorley hopefully we can be more certain of the top classed ones and lock them away before others poach. They have a lot of experience to draw from and you add Madge and Farah to that we might be on a winner here.
But how do you then get the juniors to stay if we are going to get smashed like we have so many times this season
Thye have already proven they aren't a loyal clubman ....why would they show any more loyalty to their 2nd club who finished 11th ....or even worse .....we become a transit centre .....exactly what 3 players who were our own juniors did .......
Simple answer IMO is we can not keep them unless we buy the experience players to help develop there trade.
I have been getting shot down for the last 24 hours for saying this and if you look at every single successful club you will see they have experience players there to guide them around through the thick and thin.
Lets be real our experience players that are currently leading our young future stars are .... Packer, Mbye, Tamou, Joey and JTJ. I for one don't feel any of these guys except Tamou is helping them and thats why we need to buy....
Unfortunately we are in a hard position but we have options due to having money unlike past years..
1 - We continue with development and hope we don't get smashed and lose the good ones
or
2 - We put some money into recruitment for an experience player or 2 that will help with there development but for that to happen we need to pay overs because no one wants to come here.. Finucane and Smith would be ideal
Its reality and for me I say option 2 because once we get 1 or 2 of the top players others will want to come if we are successful. Before others explode on me again I am not saying pay TPJ 850k or Finucane 4 years at 800k but we need to pick carefully. We already have the foundations built with the juniors but need help.
We need at least 3 top 50 players to put around the young blokes ......
And the paying overs talk ......is paying someone 50 or 100 k over when they are valued at 750 k such a mass panic ..if only for 2 players ...?
Nope and I would be happy to for the right ones.. I would love Brendan Smith and Dale F but I think that is a pipe dream.
I can't see the Dogs attracting Finucane ...they pushed him out once ......Roosters though ......
Maybe I need to do some research on our most likely top line player that everyone is talking about -Harley Smith-Shields
Hope he is top notch as we will need him top be :eyes:
he was calling up madge at all hours begging for a spot
madge played hard ball: look kid, i like the cut of your jib but i got superstars begging to don the black white and orange, what can you bring to the table?
whatever harley responded with was enough to have an offer tabled to him
:grinning: :grinning: :grinning: That made me laugh .. Well played Sir
