Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Players of Mimi’s quality are not what we should be aiming for. Average footballer who can do a job, just like our current outside backs. I wasn’t fussed we let him go and he doesn’t improve our squad if he comes back. People bring this guy up way too often.

I don't want anything to do with Lodge, nor my WT to either.

Always happy to let people make a mistake or even two, but this guy was way over the top and already rightly been sacked by our club. That after giving him a chance, despite him threatening his previous coach.

The guy went on to terrorise random people in the assumed sanctity of their own apartments in the US. Hell no.
Upvote.

For To'a?

And kept To'a and JTJ. Like keeping half rotten fruit instead of an apple with a spot or two.

To'a wasn't even here then - And Jimmy was certainly worth the Gamble - More so than Momo...

Let us not try to re-write history here (Just for once)
Some people easily forget that if we didn't let Momo go, We had no Fullback for 2021...

James Tedesco won Dally M fullback of the year and had played two years of SoO before he left the Tigers so someone recognised he was a good player.

Some peoples memories fade with a narrative.

Cracks me up.....

Posters here just flat out invent history.

When is the NRL cut off date for clubs to sign players to play in 2023? Also what about the earliest date clubs can sign players to play in 2024?

Which has never been mentioned by anyone outside gossiping forums.
Maybe, though until it is refuted (which it never has been), or there is a different explanation from anyone as to another reason Melbourne let go of the recently crowned NYC prop of the year at the time, it will remain the most feasible.

If they are unsigned in 2023 there is no cut off date, just by August or something of next year. You'd assume that most that are unsigned for next year are your #25 to #30 roster spot level players though. Your top line talent don't go unsigned for the next year. So if you look at Zero Tackle (https://www.zerotackle.com/players/off-contract-2022/by-position-2022/), these are the players we could potentially sign for next year, assuming that they keep their site/list up to date.

Nov 1 2022 is when we can sign players for season '24.

Brooks and Laure are our best backs. Rather than removing them I would think the goal would be to improve the quality around them,
Laurie has potential his 2021 season proved that, as for Brooks he ain’t one of our best players heck Ken Maumalo on one knee is more of a threat than Brooks is. Brooks has to be moved on no other team would have given Brooks 9 years before deciding to cut him loose. He simply just isn’t good enough.

Watching the final series first three games and you can see how much a decent forward pack in the modern game is required to win the middle to provide the platform for the backs to perform.

Two experience props needed asap or 2023 is going to be another long season.
Not much available for 23 for Props. Best ones available is probably Fifita and Tapau.

How about we try something different like a forward pack that constantly goes forward, has some line speed and puts the opposition on their backs. We haven’t done that since 2010/11. Might be something worth exploring.
Got no issue with improving the forward pack, but it won’t improve Brooks as a player. A player that kicks is constantly out on the full, kicks it dead in the in goal and just overall makes dumb 5th tackle options that’s not on the forward pack that’s on Brooks.

I have no problems with our centres. To'a, Kepaoa, Naden, Tupou and potentially the rugby player or even juniors that may come through.

JTJ has been let go but I'd much prefer him to Momo.

Players like Momo might fit into a gun team because they don't make a lot of mistakes but even that is risky. He got burned on the weekend.

If we are talking about gun players like Holmes for instance then that is different.
Fair enough. We just have different thoughts on him. I thnk he's fine but not spectacular - I think some of what we kept are not to his level.

Far enough re To'a but I don't feel he's as good as Momo. JTJ - while it might have panned out, I'm sad to say a waste of 2 years.

That bloke is puke. I hope he never wears our colours again and the nrl are piss weak for letting him play at all.
