Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks and Douehi were ineffective as halves - for the team -last week despite any individual good things either did or didn't do. When the team needed them to fulfill their roles in directing and organising the play they both failed. There is not a coach or team in the NRL that would swap their halves for either of them based on that display and we will win nothing if that's what they are going to continue to deliver.
It's not a competition to see who is better or worse between them - it's about how the team functions when they are selected in key positions.
That was not "attractive footy" - if it wasnt a reality check after drinking the cool aid over the off season about how things will be different I dont know what is.

Would love an update on the Mosses coming or staying but also any potential targets we have on the radar , come on down @thepom Always good info

Either give Moses a deadline and move on . Here’s my play , deadline take it or not , if he knocks us back then go to England and offer Dodd and welsby contracts , the super league has a cap of about 2.2 million pounds that’s about $6,000,000 , offer Dodd $550,000 and welsby $ 700,000 that’s still less than what we offered Moses , yes we will be up for a fee about $500,000 if we can pay it , I say getting two players in two positions we need is a better option, what do u all think

Correct in the context of last weeks game.

The issue is Brooks hasn't been very good and the week previously he made some shocking errors. Doueihi has been considerably worse last season and this season. The excuse for last season was he was coming back from injury but this season has shown that was a dodgy excuse.

I didn't watch the Newcastle game last night but I read a poster state that Hastings was good. Hastings was our best half last season.

We can't resign Brooks on a decent contract. We've already given Doueihi another year which is good for him but in that time we need to work out what position Doueihi should play and leave him there. If he doesn't perform he needs to be punted or as per Brooks offered a significantly smaller contract.

We need some quality halves and these guys aren't looking up to it.

I hope one of them comes good but we can't keep giving these guys opportunities. I really hope Wakeham is in the team this week at 7 and Brooks or AD are at 6. I really hope Reilly shows some form in State cup as well.
Why would we want to keep him.

Same as Doueihi - they perform. Brooks was our best player last week. If he plays like that every week and we win games I think he'd be worth a minimal dollar contract. In all seriousness I think that should be his worst game - we were terrible.

It's 2 rounds in.

In stating that I want to see Wakeham at 7. Brooks is a running 6. I also want to see Reilly given a go but I have no idea if he can play. It's just our halves are so so so poor.

I wish they also wouldn't do this fluff when we're losing. It's a bad look.
Agreed. I'd say those content pieces were created pre-season and the PR team are doing their best to keep all current and potential fans engaged whilst we're not playing well.

Winners are grinners and the scoreboard needs to change in our favour to take that heat off.

Brooks created two genuine opportunities, the 40/20, the kick to the in goal. We take one of those opportunities, we win the game. Brooks cannot be blamed (but obviously is by the usual suspects including you) for the ineptitude of some of his team mates, most noticeably forum favourite Doueihi.
August 2021 mate. You keep telling yourself it's not his fault. Had a sub par game which is above average for him and you're singing his praises like he's Cleary the Second.

Neither of them are doing enough to warrant being kept on long term. If Jacko wasn't such an unlikeable bloke he'd still be here instead of your son.

Wonder if They handed things over how things would look now, a sliding door moment. On one hand I like the idea of privatisation. It removes any committees, whether it's a boardroom or any other that run a club in doing that there's no more infighting, no more leaks to the media to undermine the coach or other board members. The owner chooses a direction and the club heads that way.
The reason I'm against it is because it can go south pretty bad, if the owner hasn't got a clue they could potentially destroy the club. No club should be anyone's plaything because they have money.
On the whole I would prefer the Tigers to be a privatised organisation. Reason being we are on the negative end of having a boardroom. Our board are dysfunctional, have no clue about league, constantly at issue with each other and literally have carte Blanche because they cannot be held to account for any of it.
Well said 👏

Actions speak louder that words Pawzy.
You don't need to defend him.

He needs to be consistent and put the work in to win the fans back....

The ball is in his court.

He can start tomorrow. ✅️🔥
