Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The usual.
How can we sign Sullivan for 3 years, he's only played 30 games blah blah blah.
He needs new material though, he used the "desperate clubs do desperate things" line again
It just shows there is an agenda towards Tigers as they mentioned Sullivan meeting with Knights but not once did they say anything about this, or even mention it was a bad signing. If we signed Jack Cogger for 3 years like knights did, we would be slaughtered buy them yet it's a good signing for anyone else.

It really is getting out of control from this So-called MAJOR sponsor of the game by TV rights. It is just gutter journalism and you don't see this in AFL or other codes from them. Maybe the NRL need to address this in the next TV deal as fans are just sick of it.

Basically they think the media controls the game which is why he is so deranged against newton.

Players union doing good work bringing them down an inch but realistically they can do what ever they want

This is simply factually incorrect.

First photo below shows a fairly obvious trend that the further down the field you play the ball the more likely you are to score a point. In the NRL between 2016-2021 teams scored 0.3 points per play the ball inside the 10m line compared to 0.04 points per play the ball in midfield. Only when you get inside the 20m can you expect to score 0.1 or more points per play the ball and it exponentially increase from their. You are 700% more likely to produce a point from 10m out to 50m out. Teams do not score more from midfield breaks, fact.

2nd graph shows a heat map of play the balls resulting in tries form 2016-2021 where green is high and red is low. The map shows the significantly largest proportion of tries are scored in the 20m line and an even larger majority 10m out and usually middle of the field.

Field position is king. We have field position but we have below average backs unable to meet NRL standards in point production. Imo we have two decent prospects in Bula and Tupou and literally no one else is NRL standard in our backline. I genuinely don't think we have had a NRL standard half or centre in half a decade.

I really wish we lived in a world in which people would consider their positions before sprouting off opinions and calling them facts. This forum can be the Dunning-Kruger effect in full flight most of the time.
Once again great stats but your jumping to conclusions.
Our backs are rubbish. No arguments there.

As you stated as fact majority of the points scored are from 10 meters out and in the middle of the field.
Who scores them by chance? The backs?

I know that simply a game is won and losses by points scored and conceded but it’s not a matter of out scoring a team to win the game as Tim believes. It’s about wearing down the opposition, giving them nothing and gaining everything. The best sides are still the best defensive sides. Do you have a stat to dispute that?

Our forwards are an improvement on last year. But as Earl mentioned we still expect more. Is that wrong to want?

Hoops and Braith are right

We need an organizing 7

Fainu and sullivan are flashy 6s

Who’s our 7?

Sezer?

Then why do we need Fainu and sullivan on $500k each?

None of them are a 7.

Tigers Fck up coming up again

Plus my cousins sponsor the dragons - said sullivan has bad hammys… and he’s a bludger happy he’s leaving lol
we need an organising 7: Sezer

why do we need Fainu and Sullivan on $500k each: Fainu is on about half that next year, and the Dragons will come to the table and chip in if they truly want Sullivan gone.

cousin is a Dragons sponsor: good on him, Hook is just about the worst coach when it comes to managing young talent and the entire Dragons preseason was spent doing road runs. no wonder Sullivan's hammys are shot to pieces. give him a preseason with Moussa where he sheds the kegs and his loads are managed and then we'll see what happens.

we are on a hiding to nothing, TM. Sullivan is a good get who at worst is decent depth for our starting halves and can play hooker at a pinch. best case scenario we've got our long term 7 at a bargain bin rate. he's a risk worth taking. the kid can play.

I dont know who they are. But the media does control the game. Video Ref in example.

But aren’t the forwards more a means to an end, rather than an end in themselves.
They can do lots of good work but not having finishers means it’s a waste of time and energy
Eventually this reduces the forwards performance coz having no finishers means their toil is wasted.

What if - the forwards dont create for the finishers? What if they do - just there are no finishers? And there are no finishers cause no one is steering the ship?

Agree with this. I think we all accept there is risk with the Sullivan signing. But the upside is there and worth the risk. Hopefully he matures as he gets a bit older and puts in and succeeds.

Please speak for yourself. You accept. I expect. Like our women's team. Their mindset. Grammar. I failed many times. No Wiz here.

Wow amazing in your opinion who are the best 3 players in super league and could the Tiger's sign any ?
I'll just go 1 back that never gets mentioned.
Jai Field . The kid's electric, but we've signed five eighth in Sullivan already and Bula's our 1.
The only other outside back I'd go for is Bevan French. Him and Field are the 2 best backs in the comp. and I'm including the St Helens boys .

Never mentioned for a reason. And you are confirming that Sullivan has signed?

That’s valid.
A good stat to see if that as a reflection of our season is the total tackles for Tigers compared to other teams. There probably is something that can tell us if the forwards are working harder than they need to.
I’m also curious as we are actually the best in the league for ineffective tackles and missed tackles; when we concede our tackles. You would think that if the forwards are over worked due to lack of execution and finishing in the early parts of the contest that the second half of the game would be our sloppiest and where we make the most errors / missed tackles.
The Souths game probably demonstrated that but I haven’t gone back and looked at the stats.

Stats dont add up to heart and will to win. They need a new name.

Anyone watch 360 tonight?

Anasta sounded like a bloke that was trying to sell a "Game Managing" 7 to me....
Also seemed concerned with the length of the contracts we're giving young halves...
Why'd that be you think?
He has one on his books currently at the club in Conti though I do wonder if all is not as it seems with Souths and Illias..
NRL 360 pretty much did tonight.
Fair enough. Thats half way official maybe.
