Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Let's re-evaluate how long he had left at the end of this season. He is absolutely playing out of his skin in comparison to the last couple. That's going to take a toll. I think 4 more years at fullback in first grade is almost impossible unless chooks are happy to have him declining. And uncle Nick sure loves his fullbacks
First call. They can be ruthless, it’s a wonder how they garner such loyalty.
Oh that’s right 💰💰💰

I think with the pending announcement of the Bears joining the NRL in 2027 a lot of teams are scrambling to sort out their cap before Nov 1 to make sure they don't get caught in bidding wars with other clubs. Could be why Richo got on the front foot with Galvin rather than waiting to fully sort out our cap.
Surely the Bears can’t come in till 2028.
Giving them more time to sign players to hopefully be competitive from the start.
Everyone is looking at what players are able to negotiate for 2027 after November 1 this year
And there aren’t enough quality players to fill a full side let alone top 30.

I reckon there will be 2 external signings inns, KPP and Taylan.
You could be right there with KPP & Taylan. Would not surprise if it's Tyson Frizell on a 2-year deal instead of KPP and also think Tyrone May will make it another trio of brothers.

Frizell keeps himself in very good condition, culture & experience signing, would shore up the right side in defence if we played him backrow, alternatively if Seyfarth kills it the rest of this season Frizell would be a great benchie to cover middle & edge, Frizell is effort personified and very strong in contact.

Also hope to see extensions before 1 November for ...
Bula
TDS
Api (extra year in '27)
To'a
Skelton
Sione Fainu

Also I'd give Doueihi the opportunity to sign for 1 season here and then that gives him the opportunity to test the market for 2027 with Perth Reds as an inaugural signing.

My first thought too. Having 18 months to start a team from scratch in a “non league” state is insane. Good luck to them

On Frizell, I live in Newcastle and his family seem to have pretty strong connections to the community here and seem very happy. Pure speculation, but I know there has been chat for a while about him being free to leave, I wonder if Tyson doesn't want to make the move for the above reasons?

Frizell is past it now. Wouldn’t suit us.

Matterson - no way!

I like the team we have. The chemistry seems like it’s clicking. Would prefer to target guys that have some experience and can be called first graders as opposed to guys that may only have 2 years left in them. Api is the exception to this however I like TDS.

Taylan May...sure I can agree there.

Tyrone May for mine is likely. Covers 5/8 & lock- with Galvin leaving, coverage in the halves doesn't hurt. Then there's the family link. And the recent story of him being out of contract in the ESL.. the timing is right.

Last one? Tieg Wilton. Need a second rower. Sharks are pretty strong. Wilton is John Morris' nephew. He's got a year to run on his contract. I can definitely see how he not only fits a need, but his style fits the direction the club is going as well.
