From what I know I have it on pretty good authority that internally the club/team energy has been off this last few weeks ever since this whole Galvin situation has occurred and if we’re being completely honest that’s quite obvious in our performance.
I personally think we need to get rid of Galvin asap and have him moved, don’t get me wrong this kid has serious talent, don’t let this last few weeks distract you from how good he can be.
However, he seems to be a massive anchor too what we’re trying to build as a culture right now and I reckon with Latu at 6 we can make a late season charge with a newfound energy if Galvin can go.
In saying that, our forward pack is not up to standard and we need to bring someone in to make a good push to the 8 hopefully with Taylan May mid season and KPP coming next year tagging along. Going back to earlier we have probably the best teenager in the NRL who wants to leave 1.5 years early with clubs lining up to pay him.
We need to try improve our pack and get a trade done, he holds serious value in a position like that. Whoever gets him would want him in the system asap to fast track his development within the team they’re building around him.
Yet we’re going for a transfer fee instead of a player compensation to potentially get a Curran or a Hopgood.
I trust richo and still have faith he’ll do what’s right, but if this is true I do have some concerns.
Gus will 💯 play hardball, not even discuss a potential player swap and be willing to wait until 2027 for Galvin as they don’t need him right now.
If it is the Bulldogs we are dealing with, our only chance of getting someone decent in return is to make it known we are willing to significantly increase that players contract value to try and stir that player up to angle for an early release.
I’m guessing players such as Josh Curran, Jacob Preston and Bailey Hayward are all currently being paid 50% or less of their true values, surely one of them would like to double their wages ASAP?
Just noticed the previous post from hamnertime and I agree that Toby Sexton and Mitchell Woods would most likely be very unhappy if the Bulldogs sign Galvin, so either of those 2 could also be targets if we wanted them.
I suppose from Wests Tigers point of view, are we happy to put all our trust into Latu Fainu being Luai’s regular halves partner ?
No doubting his talent, but do we have a kicking game within a Luai/Fainu halves partnership?
If that’s the way we are heading, I think it’s crucial we have a quality back up halfback just in case. I’ve previously thrown up a few different names, the one I’d be looking at signing is Jake Arthur, plenty might question that but he is arguably the best halve currently outside of the NRL, an extremely fit and dedicated player with good leadership qualities and battle hardened from 3-4 seasons of dominating at NSW Cup level. So not looking at him as our number one choice halfback, but as someone who can apply pressure and be a capable replacement for Luai or Latu when required
