💯Dude. We still need a coach. Look at Brisbane.
If we don’t get a decent player in return for the Punk, it’s a big F from me to RichoFrom what I know I have it on pretty good authority that internally the club/team energy has been off this last few weeks ever since this whole Galvin situation has occurred and if we’re being completely honest that’s quite obvious in our performance.
I personally think we need to get rid of Galvin asap and have him moved, don’t get me wrong this kid has serious talent, don’t let this last few weeks distract you from how good he can be.
However, he seems to be a massive anchor too what we’re trying to build as a culture right now and I reckon with Latu at 6 we can make a late season charge with a newfound energy if Galvin can go.
In saying that, our forward pack is not up to standard and we need to bring someone in to make a good push to the 8 hopefully with Taylan May mid season and KPP coming next year tagging along. Going back to earlier we have probably the best teenager in the NRL who wants to leave 1.5 years early with clubs lining up to pay him.
We need to try improve our pack and get a trade done, he holds serious value in a position like that. Whoever gets him would want him in the system asap to fast track his development within the team they’re building around him.
Yet we’re going for a transfer fee instead of a player compensation to potentially get a Curran or a Hopgood.
I trust richo and still have faith he’ll do what’s right, but if this is true I do have some concerns.
If it's the dogs, the challenge will be is getting the player to agree to come here. They're top of the ladder, why would they leave now? The only thing that may work is who it might displace, which could be Sexton or Mitchel Woods. If we don’t get a decent player in return for the Punk, it’s a big F from me to Richo
Gus will 💯 play hardball, not even discuss a potential player swap and be willing to wait until 2027 for Galvin as they don’t need him right now. From what I know I have it on pretty good authority that internally the club/team energy has been off this last few weeks ever since this whole Galvin situation has occurred and if we’re being completely honest that’s quite obvious in our performance.

100% correct mate. Gus will not let go of a player they want to keep like Preston or Curran when they are currently fighting for a premiership. They won’t even care if Galvin comes next year he won’t be a difference in their chances this year anyway. It will be take the money or nothing & be stuck with a player in the squad that brings everyone else down + court appearances for who knows how long about ‘bullying’. Despite what people have tried saying on here the club has next to 0 leverage.Gus will 💯 play hardball, not even discuss a potential player swap and be willing to wait until 2027 for Galvin as they don’t need him right now.
If it is the Bulldogs we are dealing with, our only chance of getting someone decent in return is to make it known we are willing to significantly increase that players contract value to try and stir that player up to angle for an early release.
I’m guessing players such as Josh Curran, Jacob Preston and Bailey Hayward are all currently being paid 50% or less of their true values, surely one of them would like to double their wages ASAP?
On your final point, feels like there is part of the story that’s not known, and it’s somewhat stuffed our leverage. From what I know I have it on pretty good authority that internally the club/team energy has been off this last few weeks ever since this whole Galvin situation has kicked off and if we’re being completely honest that’s quite obvious in our performance.

9 .Api - played with DCE before at manlyJust like Cronk 8 years ago, DCE won't even be considering us. Even if we offered him two million dollars a year. He wants to slot into a team that is ready to compete for a premiership.
We ain't getting DCE.9 .Api - played with DCE before at manly
6 . Luai played against him at SOO
1. Bula emergfullback
our spine is not too bad, a better spine than dolphins
Good point you raise AHX as at worst we break pretty even with the Bulldogs in way of talent within our spine, yet they are flying high on top of the ladder and we are struggling to keep in touch with the top 8.Do you prefer our team or the Bulldogs team? And why? Is their fullback better? Their hooker? Their props? Their spine?
I’ll venture a guess. Madge?Again. Brisbane have 17 fine players. What is their excuse?
Problem is the clubs all know the edges importance and not many good edge players are allowed to test themselves on the open market.Good point you raise AHX as at worst we break pretty even with the Bulldogs in way of talent within our spine, yet they are flying high on top of the ladder and we are struggling to keep in touch with the top 8.
I do think it’s quite clear they have much better quality and much more strike on their edges being edge back row and centres and as much as I’m not a huge fan of Trent Robinson, I recently heard Knights coach Adam O’Brien state Robbo’s theory is your teams whole attack is built around attacking threat on your teams edge.
I 💯 agree with that and I think if we can significantly increase our attacking threat on our edges, we will see a big improvement in our results.
So maybe Galvin’s looming departure is a blessing in disguise as if he accepted our 1 million dollar per season offer, it would have made our cap space very tight and not much wiggle room to upgrade our edges.
Now it’s just a matter of finding the right players, that’s the hard part.
