Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t think we have the full story here. Benji and Richo may want Taylan - but not at that price. Perhaps he should test the market?

Maybe it’s a timing issue, Api is still high quality (well above what TDS offers now) and we value that more? Or they have identified someone else who they think will suit their style better post Api.

and then was talked into fulfilling his current contract. I had no illusions he would walk at the end of 26 but at the point he did in 25?
Nope no one predicted that before this comp began.

Well..perhaps I didn’t predict it,,, but it certainly didn’t surprise me when it happened ..I had my doubts that he would ever sign an extension here the whole time

this club is absolute rookie areas .
letting a junior go A YEAR EARLY for a guy we’ve already signed is absolutely unjustifiable . all this taking a stand for contracts is bull . idc who the club picked to stay, it’s the way they go about these things ???? just opening ourselves up for more noise around a club that has been through the ringer for decades .

tallyn decides to leave , you let him go to market in November and he signs somewhere during the off season, plays out his last year with us story is done . Instead we fast track it and news breaks literally hours before the team has to play and ironically when he’s back on the bench . we don’t think these things through .

Why move him on early though ? Pretty sure they will need a back up hooker next season..and he is signed cheap

Have I missed something....has someone been released?

I was going to post along similar lines. My question was going to be thinking back 12 months ago, who would you have said were our most promising juniors. Most would have said Galvin, both the Large boys, TDS and Makasini. A year later three have gone, one looks like he's on the way out and only Makasini is staying ..... for the moment. Don't care what anybody says, as a fan this guts me.
It's devastating for the club but lets look at each case individually:

Onitoni left because the club refused to put in a clause in his contract that if Galvin resigned he would be free to leave. I assume Ashton followed his brother.

Galvin leaving seemed a foregone conclusion. He wanted a better team in a better system. Maybe a Bellamy, Bennett or Cleary could have kept him here.

TDS wants to leave because he feels he is ready for first grade and his path is blocked by Api.

I would also add Jordan Miller to this list who was sacked under the guise of disciplinary reasons but it seems the club were off him attitude-wise.

In each case, the club has to take responsibility for not being able to sell them the vision, but there does seem to be a sense of entitlement particularly from that one Matts winning team that these guys deserve first grade spots in winning football teams when they are in their teens. What has been said to them through juniors? has there been promises made regarding positions?

Very basically, player dictating to the club (noting his strong connection with Galvin and his shennanigans), see you later and dont let the door hit you on way out. If we can get KPP earlier to assist with our forward strength for the remainder of this season why not? People here have often remarked on our poor forward depth for this season.

No, this is a test, surely the club has learnt how to retain their juniors.

So questions needs to be asked.

Why does he need to test the market, Tigers would be offering him good money.

So is there something wrong with the team/club?

This will be very, very disappointing if we don't keep him!

Cmon man ..Tartak already knows what he can get from the market for him
I'm sure he'd have a rough idea.

I'm also sure he'd have no idea of the finer details or numbers of any particular deal that may be available for Tallyn.

...Unless of course he's blatantly flouting the rules. In spite of the recent breach he got for meeting with one of his underage clients with their parents there, Mario seems like one of the genuine good guys. At least in teh player-manager space.

Maybe I'm wrong. Though I doubt it.

We’ll agree to disagree looks like…

Who was the last junior we produced who either spent their whole career here, or are in the process of it? It’s a pretty short list.

Yeah, I can understand Moses etc leaving because their work environment was poor, no 'Centre of Excellence'

Whats the reasons now?

Too early to speculate?
