Opposing player was holding on to the back of Taylans Jersey as he tried to move towards the ball, I don't think it was enough to get a penalty however it did unbalance him, so it made it look like he just gave up on the play. Maybe a bit more urgency and aggression would have allowed him to at least disrupt Deardens ball pick up, however hard to tell. To me the Naden misses were actually pretty consistent for him, people saying he is rocks and diamonds, I actually think he is pretty consistent defensively. I very rarely see him come out on top against larger more physical centres when they target his side....I recall a similar outing where Bradman Best made a complete fool of him on multiple occasions.

Not arguing abilities or the other points, and I haven't looked at it again. Still, I am 99% sure that the ball was basically in the opposite direction that Taylan was facing and adjacent to the defender, whom if anything, was pulling him back toward both the ball and our tryline.

Anyway, my earlier reply related to effort plays, and pointing out that May chose to put his head down and give up on the play.

Sheens obviously didn’t rate him. I was told by a mutual friend that had Richard’s not been able to play the GF Sheens was going to debut McDonnell instead of picking Reik.

There are two players I want to focus on defensively who I've noticed have bad defensive habits in their game creeping into the team that impacts on others. Firstly is Koroisau. Two examples are the Koula try vs manly 2 weeks ago and also the Purdue missed tackle on the weekend in the 1st half that led to a try. It puts way too much pressure on the back 5 and the rest of the team to get back there. Conceding linebreaks is a momentum changer because it puts the opposition in good field position where they can camp there for long and it tires out the forward pack in defence. This and cheap yardage penalties are areas of improvement. The amount of times he has a lazy effort leading to a linebreak in the middle of the field is unacceptable. He may be old, but if is playing big minutes we need him to fix this up. We need to start blooding our next future hooker or I'd be interested in getting Blake Mozer from Broncos who they are loaning out for some short term success, just like we did with Harry Grant and Storm in 2020. The other player I want to touch on is Bula. He has a lot of great effort plays in attack like contesting bombs and support play but his last line of defence has to be the worst of any fullback in the NRL. Very rarely do you see him stopping tries in last ditch efforts. Also on the weekend I've noticed a trend with bula being stopped in clutch situations like in the last minute, similar to vs Penrith in June where he was stopped by sorenson close to the try line. His strength and defensive resilience needs a lot of work.

Tiny had just been headbutted in face...he was clearly - from where i was sitting it was right in front of us - he was clearly quite stunned by the blow

To be fair to apa , he had hurt his arm just before Purdue try , he looked like a dead arm .
As for bula , he really needs to work on his one on one defence, at present it’s terrible
