Let’s say we sign Tyson Frizell who will be 35y.o in October this year, who does he replace from our top 17 when we are full strength?
I know we need depth and I’m all for improving our depth, but I assume he would not be coming to play reserve grade and I’m not convinced at age 35 he will be a better top 17 option than what we already have?

Price is what I expected and seems ok.
My concern is will he be unhappy if playing reserve grade due to other players form being better than his?
Being a mate of Benji’s, I bet he will feel obliged to select him in our NRL team regardless of form.

Good problem to have, whoever has the best summer gets 15 through to 17 between the four of them, but it won't be long before an injury hits, it's inevitable in the modern game

A lot of it comes to the environment a player needs to succeed. Our environment would not do that for TPJ.

I get he is being signed for his experience/professionalism, but he'll be taking up a top 17 spot every week if fit - which is crap.

His teams also been much better than ours - and he has at least 1 superstar In His team…

Fair chance he’ll always go better in a better team.

Frizell has not played 2nd row once this season, he’s been solely a middle forward.
I can see the theory behind possibly signing him as he comes across as a serious character which will hopefully be an example to some of our current players who don’t seem switched on often enough.
But that only carries weight if his form remains good enough to demand a top 17 spot, not just be selected on what he’s done in the past and because he is the coaches mate.
Signing him could work, but a little bit of danger also due to his age.

Hard to get too thrilled about Frizell. Cheap short term deal. Could prove to be handy without making any significant impact. Don't see any danger - retirement is the outcome if he gets injured.
