Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Off contract players will want to get paid. Smart signings will go along way in redefining the clubs future. Teddy is a top 3 fullback in the game but look at the current top 5\. Besides slater where do you rank the fullbacks of dragons raiders sharks and roosters?

Here's my suggestion if/when woods Tedesco go.

Sign Hopoate to play centre
Sign lolohea to play fullback
Sign mead to play wing
Sign packer and vete for front row
Sign guerra as a backrow
Sign Shaun Johnson.

Is it a dream? Probably. But financially the club can do it

Sorry mate, but I just wanted your opinion one more time.

Woods - Leaving
Tedesco - Staying

That or different?

I'd still be confident in Tedesco staying.

Mate you are on the money more than most. What makes you think he stays?

Disagree smokey, I think try and get Dylan Edwards from Penrith to play fullback. Aaron Gray on the wing and Packer, Vete, Matulino, Kaufusi, Nelson Asofa Solemona for the forwards. Johnson in the halves.

Not gonna get NAS. He will stay in Melbourne. Edwards is green to play FB but definetly a cheap wing option. Wouldn't touch Aaron gray with anyone's money to be honest.

Its real life NRL fantasy League
Do you get bonus points for lunching in enemy territory with the enemy prior to game day?

I'd be enquiring about Isaah Yeo, David Mead, Connor Watson, Joseph Manu, Curtis Scott, Tevita Pangai Jnr (Balmain Jnr his two brothers played for Balmain) and Roberts.

Isaah Yeo is locked up at the Panthers. long term but otherwise yes.
David Mead - yep, definitely. Bennett won't release him this year but for next year he'd be a good wing option if nothing else.
Connor Watson - would we worth asking about even though he's signed up to the end of 2018\. They seem pretty happy with the Keary/Pearce combo and they have Matterson for depth at 5/8\. They might release him if he gets an opportunity to play 5/8.
Joseph Manu - no chance Roosters will release him. They'll move on SKD and Tupou before they get rid of a young talent like that.
Curtis Scott - worth looking at, although I think the Sharks are after him as a replacement for Bird.
Tevita Pangai - no chance of getting him off the Broncos. They paid good money to get him off Canberra.
Roberts - which one?

Roberts the Broncos' centre. From what Sharks' supporters tell me, Ferguson is the preferred centre target. Scott was rated the best Sharks' junior together with Jack Bird (not their junior ironically).

The two Titans' wingers, Don and the ex Keebra player Roberts from Northern NSW are two extremely good players worth our attention.

Cleary if both Woods and Teddy leave will be in a good position to purchase and settle our team down in 2018
He will have Farahs money I'm thinking $ 700,000
Woods offer he has not taken $ 800,000
Teddys offer he has not taken $ 1.1 million
So we have aprox $ 2.6 million to spend whitch should buy 4 to 5 good players we don't need to spend 1 million on any players
Players to purchase I would look at
Foran with Woods money $ 800k. 3 years
Then go after Matalino $ 450 k. 3 years
Luke lewis $ 450 k 1 year with option in club Favour
Packer $ 400 k 3 years
Then look for 2 players who are just outside first grade like our MM was at the Sharks
$ 250 k each and then throw MM another $ 50 k to stay for 2 more years
But I don't know much so this could look like crap to some but it's just a thought

Add Moses, Sirro and Ballin as well.

We also need to retain a good portion of our team, Nofo will be on more as will MM & Ava.

Squad size increases as well which will need to be managed as does the min salary.

Whilst we might have alot of money it can be chomped up very quickly especially if we get Johnson or Widdup & if Teddy stays.

Don't discount Cronk. He would be perfect to work with Brooks for 2 years and has Mimis, the same manager as Cleary.

Tigers will also be the only Sydney club left with the money if Foran goes to Bulldogs.

Could make a pretty handy team with some off contract players. Need a clean out like BA did at the EELS who are now on the up… There's about 6 current players I would keep. Teddy, Nofo, Mcilwrick, ET, MCK and Suli. The rest are surplus to requirements and can just make up the 25 man squad or be sent packing. can persist with liddle and Idris, the rest are hopeless.
1 Charnze Nicoll Klokstad (if we don't keep Teddy)
2 Suli
3 Taane Milne
4 Kurt Mann
5 NOFO
6 Brooks – suppose we have to keep/play him…
7 SJ
8 Christian Welch
9 McIlwrick
10 Ben Matulino
11 MCK
12 Aiden Guerra
13 Elijah Taylor

14 Jai Arrow
15 Joe Ofahenguae
16 John Asiata
17 Johnnie Tuivasa Sheck

I'd also be enquiring with the Roosters, assuming Teddy goes there, about a potential player swap with Connor Watson and Latrell Mitchell. Watson is a waste in reserve grade and Mitchell is future superstar.

The latter point is very important. Imagine Isaac Moses coming cap in hand attempting to place a few of his stable because we are the only club with $ to spend.

The best option going forward is to identify some big names in key positions (5/8 & Fullback) and get them on board first. After that, the best option is to wait, especially with this impending salary cap mess for other key positions such as centre and second row. The Titans roster at the start of last year was looking extremely weak, but they managed to pick up Hurrell, Peats and Hayne because they left room in the cap.

Look at this scenario:

Currently Penrith have Watene-Zaleziak, Peachey, Waqa Blake, Peter Hiku, Dean Whare and Josh Mansour. That's 6 players for 4 positions. Once they are all back from injury, two will be on the outer. They are all first grade players who will want to be playing. Lets presume Mansour and Watene-Zaleziak are safe as they are true wingers (and DWZ just re-signed). Whare just signed a four year contract so Penrith are not going to release a player that they have to partly pay for 4 years against the Salary Cap. That means, Hiku, Blake and Peachey will be playing for one centre spot.

It's been well documented that Penrith have over budgeted for the salary cap, so they're going to have to let players go. The logical thing would be to release players who are first grade quality, sitting in NSW Cup. Also, Peachey, Hiku or Blake are not going to stay if they're not in the 17\. That's where the Tigers could pick up a top quality centre on the cheap.

This is just one example, but there will be many players and clubs in a similar predicament once the salary cap is finalised. Just something to think about.

I'd take the Peach in a heartbeat. Gamebreaker. They don't call him "Funnelwebs" for nothing
