Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

still heaps of talk in the Media about player movements. Most of the talk is about Foran. but some of the others are in positions we need.
from Foxsports.com marketwatch.
Cowboys are after Charlie Gubb and Storm are after Kasiano (who wants a staring spot).
other forwards off contract: Brenton Lawrence,Sam Tagataese,Alex Glenn,Joe Ofahengaue , Corey Harawira-Naera (Sharks interested in him as Panthers have heaps of 2nd rowers), Aidan Guerra (dropped to the bench).
Backs; .Will Chambers, Blake Ferguson, Michael Gordon, Shaun Kenny-Dowall,, Daniel Tupou

How good would Lolohea, Gagai, Fonua and Packer be. Cmon tigers!

Fonua cannot be considered as a serious NRL backline option. We need an injection of geniune pace and he is slow. Hopefully he is an ISP team option and we are looking at buying centres and wingers from NYC who are genuine NRL players.

Should be some official announcements released over the next 7 days. Lolohea is done but don't expect to see him within the next fortnight. Hooper is spot on with fonua but not sure where the Corey Thompson news is coming from. Haven't heard anything there with him.

Haven't had any confirmation with packer but I'd be stunned if he doesn't sign. Offer isn't 700k a season but it is a tick over 600k. The 4 years is what's gonna get him though.

SG, 600, 700 seems like a lot but understandable in some ways. Do you have insight as to whether part of this will be covered as a Marque player allowance now that packer is an international again?
I'm sure we'd probably have the funds to do it anyway but it would be nice for some of f us to hear if deal is structured as, to provide additional funds for more depth signings or a couple of old heads.
Eastwood would be one of these? Done deal?

I'll be completely honest and say analytically packer isn't worth 600k. That being said, there's a lack of top line props on the market and the tigers have a big hole to fill and of the current off contract props he's clearly head of the pack. So what you have is 1) a need from tigers 2) a competitive market and 3) a substantial offer from his current club so when you combine those aspects sometimes you have to go a bit harder to secure your need as Tigers. 600k isn't outlandish but his rating is in the 475k range.

No idea on the contract break down for the packer deal. Haven't heard anything about Eastwood either.

I am hearing the Bulldogs are paying 100k p.a of Eastwoods contract of 450k p.a and he has been offered to the Tigers. Not a world beater but at 350k would be a solid enough squad player.

seriously why arent we after kasiano as well.
we could take both. i dont mind eastwoodas he is a tough bugger . i wouldnt want to run into him
we need grunt and muscle

Kasiano, Eastwood and Tolman/Graham will be the ones contracted to be forced out at the dogs.
Would definitely make a play for Kasiano.

i heard storm wanted kasiano. surely we could have a go if we miss packer. melbourne wouldnt pay overs and he would not have to move states and could still get a kebab at belmore if he wants

Agree Kasiano is the player I would be after he is a difference maker and if we get Packer we would monster packs for once.

I hope that Reynolds is not the sort of character who would try to get players to move from the club that he's playing for just as I would hope that our three wouldn't do such a thing. I can imagine the uproar on this forum if that happened and rightly so.

Bugger that, apply any advantage you can!

Sure I would hate on ex-players who lured current players away, but there are always two different sets of rules for our players and the opposition.

A bit of topic, i'm Thailand working, i'm a forensic accountant, and today is a public holiday, so nothing to do, no drinking, i think its a Buddhist thing, anyway just watching old utube vidoes of the tigers,
firstly, wow i miss Benji
secondly i thought i didn't care about Teddy and Woods leaving (i really don't care about Moses, happy to see him go) but it really upset me watching old matches with these boys, i can see why Teddy left, the guy gave 100% but his heart is with the roosters, but Woods, wow, i will never understand what happened there, the man was made to be our captain for 10 years, why did he throw that away? can anyone answer that? .
End of the day i'm happy where we are heading, but there are a lot of unanswered questions, hope to read the book one day, by an unbiased source.

Can someone please explain to me how the Bulldogs can keep buying these million dollar players when they have multiple million dollar players still contracted to them. The players everyone keeps saying need to be moved on are contracted for next year and some longer. Can you imagine the blow up from the media if it was us trying to do that.

exactly, when we first began the process of signing Woods, Teddy, Moses and Brooks, most were reporting we could not sign all of them under the salary cap, why? besides Woods and Teddy the other two are pretty much average players, the roosters, manly, broncos and others are carrying 4 to 8 marquee players yet we could not do 4, in my opinion 2 or 3.

So, yes i agree with you, how is this happening, i'd love to be able to go through the clubs books, i reckon it would be a minefield.
