Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Still need forwards added…

Remembering back to some of Cleary's time at the Warriors and Panthers he use to like having wingers and centres taking a lot of hit ups coming out of the red zone..sort of started the trend...Given they way we played of late I'd say it's a big part of his game plans..so the recruiting thus far in the backs makes sense...

Sirro needed to be shaken out of his complacent comfortable position at WT. Here he could cruise with daddy's support. At Manly he is being paid to perform as a professional. He is performing. He always could, but he needed to find that out without his WT security blanket.

Unfortunately we're the ones paying for him to perform as a professional.

Otherwise, we'd be paying him to continue cruising, taking up a spot in our roster.

Or maybe he'd be a regular starter in our first grade squad? I guess we'll never know, but I'd rather have him take a roster spot and play for us, than paying his salary to play against us. On his form this year he'd be our best second rower by a considerable margin.

Fair enough. It would be great to have seen him mature and perform at that level here but it didn't eventuate and sooner or later you have to cut your losses with underperforming players. I suspect that he had to be taken out of his comfort zone and put under pressure to mature and produce the goods, but as you say, we'll never know.

Packer
Taane Milne

Next signing sweating on conor Watson and tupou .

Would be nice hearing rumours about forwards too.

Milne over Reynolds? Wow

I'd rather hear some official signings as opposed to rumoured ones.

Yeah was most excited about packer and Milne. Mile will be a great signing.

Question - Does anyone have any real info they can share and not just hopes???
We have not had any real info for a few weeks and i think with the knights coming out this week with signings (apparently) it would be a timely boost us fans need…

NRL Clubs Join Race for Warrington Young Gun!

Andre Savelio, 22, has become hot property home and now abroad. It is believed the Brisbane Broncos and Wests Tigers are to Join St Helens, Castleford, Leeds and Leigh for the services of Andre Savelio for the 2018 season and beyond.
\
\
Savelio’s joined Warrington on a 1 year deal, from St Helens after the 2016 season. He has been one of the Wolves better players this season and the club may now struggle to retain the talented loose forward.

Savelio has made 13 appearances for ‘The Wire’ in 2017 and added to his try scoring tally in Warrington’s round 19 victory over the Catalans Dragons, taking his total for 4 tries for the season, a record high for the 22-year-old.

They are describing Andre Savilio as another Sonny Bill. At 110kgs in the 2nd row, with the current forward signings, we would be building a monster forward pack.

Something not associated with the tigers before.

Centers? We have Milne, Masters, Suli + Lolohea can play there.

Fullback worries me as does our back row depth the most for next year - we are also 1 prop short.

If MCK or Edwards is even on the extended we have troubles.

^ This.
But we still have the funds I think. Should be right, IC's not done yet.

If the NRL stick to their salary cap decision then a few clubs will be releasing some well paid players before next season. These clubs are holding meetings with the RLPA to try and get the NRL to change its mind.

It's a waiting game and we are in a prime position to strike. Newcastle too.

I hope they do stick solid mate. It would be the first time they've shown some backbone in a while.

Wow we might get the next Sonny Bill Williams! We've already got the next Andrew Johns and have had the future NSW spine for several years now :blah

Under the FOX news story on twitter, there are roughly a dozen comments from people saying things like this kid has a bad attitude, defence is not up to standard, he's 22 and is with his third club, and that his agent is talking him up big time. No positive comments there.

Not conclusive evidence, but certainly suggestive that a lot more looking into this kid is required before we get excited by the prospect.

Wasn't it a couple of years ago l think 2012 the Tigers were premiership favourites so if they are still in the top 8 after around 8 rounds I will start to think there a chance.

'Unfortunately we're the ones paying for him to perform as a professional.'

Wrong. Farah is the only ex-player still on Wests Tigers books this season.
If a contracted player asks for and is given a release to another club like Siro did, the original club doesn't have to pay out the contract. Farah didn't ask for a release.

Talking about "time".
Remember a few years back when we still had a team of first graders, there was this kid called Burgess and another called Graham who Wests were taking time to decide whether to sign.
Time ran out and they got gazumped by Russell and the Bulldogs.

The kid could be a great pickup, and if WT are looking at him, I would have to presume that we have done our homework on him. He could be just what we need.

The mindset of next SBW is what got my defences up. Like Brooks was to be the next Joey Johns.

Did we really miss out on Graham's signing. He would have gone down perfect here with Ellis, and we had a very good idea that this guy is the goods.

No we were not going to get Burgess. But DAMN.
