Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@Geo None I assume, I thought you were saying that Keebra itself wasn't still producing when it seems to be. I prefer our more recent strategy of sweeping up young Aus Schoolboys talent but the real test is going to be whether we can keep these kids for their next contracts when they'll actually be NRL-ready...

No not questioning Keebra's production of footballers ...just those that have come through our pathways whist affilliated with them...Again it was never an exclusive relationship and we can still recruit from Keebra just as your list has shown like any other Club..

@Geo I've liked the junior recruitment last year and this year. Our new recruitment manager has been a great addition to the club. Smith and one or two others could potentially progress to the NRL within 2 years which more than justifies this recruitment policy.

Not much has come from from Keebra system that have gone on to NRL in the last few years

Ah I see the miss understanding ...players from Keebra that came through Wests Tigers pathways to play NRL either with us or other Clubs..

@851 is that the case? Pity he didn’t feel that way previously. I recall something about Politis wouldn’t deal with him so maybe it’s got something to do with that.

Tedesco is still tight with Joe Wehbe who has taken Isaac Moses to court. The fallout extends to Izzy Folau who is in the same managerial and "confidant" situation as Tedesco.

Raft of NRL players offered to Super League clubs
Today’s Total Rugby League Article
Daniel Alvaro is among the NRL players currently being offered to clubs ahead of 2020.

NRL agents have started to shop their overseas players to clubs in the Northern Hemisphere with a view to making the move from down under.

25-year-old prop Alvaro has played regularly for Parramatta this season and has already made 74 NRL appearances. An Italy international, he would be a sound pick up for several Super League clubs.

But he isn’t the only talent available, with the likes of Cronulla centre Aaron Gray, South Sydney back-rower Kyle Turner and St George Illawarra prop Jeremy Latimore also on the market.

Others offered to clubs include Kurt Capewell, Cronulla’s 25-year-old utility, North Queensland forward Corey Jensen, Parramatta forward Ray Stone and Gold Coast youngster Max King.

It remains to be seen which clubs will take make a move for the overseas stars, with business likely to pick up in the week leading up to the Magic Weekend. Many of the overseas player managers come to the UK every year for the event on a scouting and networking mission.

Cronulla Sharks’ Premiership-winning winger Sosaia Feki has also been offered around clubs.

Alvaro is decent when given the minutes. He'd be my pick from those mentioned here.

Wrong person. I meant to reply to someone saying Gutho would go to the Roosters

I really like Alvarro, and he'll only get better. Surprised Parra are shopping a prop.

We seem to do well from eels outcasts.

@Sunnycoast_tiger I’m not sold on Capewell but a big yes to Alvaro

A few people on here have said that, but I have watched all Cronulla's games this year, he plays 80 minutes every week at left secondrow, he is always putting himself up as a runner or decoy, never bludging out the back, good on the kick chase and has some pace, I see only an upside.

@851 I haven’t seen all of Cronulla’s games. Actually I’ve only seen four this season. But I didn’t think he was much better than Garner, who has been good but missed a few important tackles.

@851 The downside is his defence which is ordinary and the reason he didn't play 80 minutes in Round 7 (he was hooked after 64 minutes after missing 7 tackles and giving up some tries). As you say it's not like he's a player that lacks effort in his game or fitness, I just don't think he's very good at tackling which is a worry at age 25 playing 2nd row...
