Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We have a great opportunity ahead this year for a few reason:
1. Our new development / training facility - Massive factor to have all high tech training equipment etc.. Must advertise this throughout the year with updates of photos / Videos for the most exposure...
2. We have got and signed a lot of the country best juniors and
3. We have the current NZ head coach and the feedback from them players has been nothing but positive with great results.

If our team goes in the season with a chip on their shoulders because everyone rights us off and we perform that would have the encourage interest from top players to join.

Anyway as we all have different thoughts we need to hang onto the fact we are building the team young with the eye on keeping the top ones like the storm did. Just going to take time and I know once a ball is kicked we all will be backing the team regardless who is out there.

What sensible clubs are doing now is signing players a year in advance and putting pressure on his current club for an early release. It seems to be a very effective policy because clubs dont see the point of holding a player who will be leaving next year and often release them early

Yeah unless you sign a development player from another club that has no actual impact or adds pressure to that clubs cap if they decide to deny that release and keep him on their books in case at some time in the year they need another front rower. Potentially that club now has 31 first graders due to the fact his 2021 club is desperate to get him across early and make him part of the clubs new resurgence...

Douehi has strong ties to the Tigers. Was a junior, still lives in the area and is good mates with a lot of their team. He often posts stuff with those guys.
Will be a big battle to keep him.

Make the kid an offer he can’t refuse

Didn’t we try that with LM, it’s not always about money sometimes they just want to play at successful club

Not necessarily,
Depends on each individual
Newcastle,parra,bulldogs seem to attract players
I think the winning culture helps but.

From everything we know, the tigers withdrew their offer

I dare say LM is getting what we were offering just not on the books

You said it all These
other club’s can sign quality players but not tigers, amazing how when we miss on top players other clubs are always paying them under the table

They'll use Douiehi as utility bench cover. What flummoxed me is how they managed to keep both AJ & DG on their books. They've turned their attention to Jai Arrow now.
I'm assuming the contract LM signed has been ratified by the NRL too. Amazing

Surely they will need to let someone go If they get Arrow this year
They will only get Arrow if Gold Coast gets a suitable replacement for Arrow
This is where we could come in
We may be able to get into a 3 way trade
Arrow to South's
Doueihi to Tigers
One of our Forwards to Gold Coast
But who

Eisenhuth and throw in McQueen
Or a Taylor McQueen
Or and Eisenhuth Taylor
We would have the Money for both Doueihi and BJ
Could also get Hiroti on the cheap
And have plenty of $ for another signing

Head up @tiger_steve, I know sometimes we suck, yeah we do, but it might be this year it comes good for is. 2005 can happen again, round 16 that year we were 10th, with more losses than wins.

We'll get there again. Eventually. Maybe sooner rather later.

Yeah
Unfortunately the NRL is light years away from doing anything to regulate the cap and TPA’s

But we all know that we are playing in a corrupted system; it’s not news.
The lame part is that is knowing it’s the only way clubs recruit and keep top talent and still we either (a) refuse to play that game, or (b) don’t play that game well enough.

Tigers actively looking for a top line centre as a point of need now (that’s from with-in the organisation) Content with forward pack.

why did we let go of our marsters then if we needed a centre.

He was headed to the back row quickly

i would argue we need a fullback more than we need a centre. i hope Madge has that as his top priority right now.

Aetkins meany AJ and JAC. Those are the hit list.

And Izzy?

It wasn't funny the first time and it isn't funny now.

I’m not joking

Then I'd suggest you get some help because Folau is never coming back to the NRL.

Off field stuff aside, he is the best fullback around, he would even be better the Latrell.

Given we have packer, musgrove and Reynolds maybe we don’t care as much about off field any more... @willow

It really looks like slim pickings for 2020 now. No real big names we can chase unless someone gets released. Who should we start targeting for 2021? We all know we will have plenty of money to splash around, plus we have a few young players coming through with bright futures. We still need a fullback, Benji will retire so a 6 is in need, a strike outside back would be very handy and you can never have enough props. Who do we target?

We will have to agree to disagree willow.

I’m clearly of the opinion he would make a difference on field, he would need to keep his mouth shut and not flame social media with his polarising views. I’m not a fan of his views but he is a great player. He’d be better at fullback than Latrell.

And if the nrl allowed the type of signing we need and could get. Unlike latrell and Munster

Thats the problem - we are stuck in the DVD era while the better clubs have been streaming for years.

And can someone tell me, WITH AUTHORITY, that they are balancing the books if they keep all these backs while adding Latrell to the roster?

I'd wager that the Sam Burgess money would be going to him this year. Not sure how they'll do it next year when Arrow arrives. Maybe there's money left over from Burgess and they'll front load a bit of next year? Maybe they plan to have moved on Gagai, AJ or one of their other backs at that point?

I'd reckon they would have the money for him this year since it looks apparent that Arrow will not come, and they are kicking the can down the road in the hope of clearing the books for next year.

As mentioned in the LM presser - Arrow coming in 2020 or not is irrelevant to LM signing on. They're still chasing Arrow for 2020.

Brown paper bags.
