One skill which hasn’t changed in the last 70 years is speed off the mark. When you talk to the old timers, some of whom are dead now. Blinding speed over 20mts is a prerequisite for all players. imo. It appears that size and athleticism have become more important than ball skills for some coaches?

Apparently we should be expecting an announcement next week Tues/Weds if he agrees.

I can actually see this happening where Roosters will get AD and he will turn out to be a SOO player.. We will sit back and say if only we increase our offer by 100k...

Surely this isn’t possible. With what cap are the Roosters to outlay $500k plus? They are also supposedly after the other Morris twin to cover for that centre who did his ACL. Ridiculous...


The Roosters have a bigger so called war chest than Tigers’.
There’s gonna be a lot of dejected fans when DA signs with Chooks and gets picked for SoO Blues .

What if he doesn't play SOO for the Blues. What if he is a dud. It's hard to predict the future.

Yer throwing a lot of what ifs at me there Earl. I’ve only ever recognised a handful of players who were destined for bigger things and they’ve all become internationals. But you’re right anyone of us could have the worse run of rotten luck ever experienced by anyone on earth.
I just don’t think that way about anyone though.

I have a feeling we will be hearing from AD and his management some time very soon. We are not coming across as desperate as we were for LM and we learnt a big lesson with how the media can portray us. I like how Madge is playing this, we’ve thrown him an offer and if he wants it or if souths pitch in then let’s table it up. AD definitely has talent, but the world won’t come to an end if we miss out on him. He needs us more than we need him atm.

This is the type of realistic assessment of our club that I like. We are the ones in the box seat. We have great opportunities available for quality players who are prepared to accept hard work and a fair wage. If you want to be overpaid or you don't want to work hard than go to another club.

Mmm? So we are looking for players who don’t want to be paid highly and want to work harder than most players.
That should attract a better than average response. Should we get in extra people to man the phones?

No we are looking for players that want to win a comp. That takes hard work and it requires getting a talented team on the park. One the key factors in getting a talented team on the park is not overpaying players.


You mean players like Teddy? He has talent and wanted to win a comp?

Teddy is a prime example of a guy that is extremely hard to build a team around if you are a club on the up like us. He is a primma donna with no loyalty at all. Great player but he is the sort of guy who you don't give your back too unless you want a knife in it.

Spot on. The gimp is a mercenary. He wanted a club with plenty of cash that were willing to provide him with the soy-latte lifestyle (and give him the Hollywood teeth). Hence Unca Nick ticked all the boxes.

The Tedescos are well off.

Like kids don't have to work ever if they were brought up like that, well off.

Money isn't the issue, and the kid was already a soy-latte lifestyle kid, just from the country.
Ulitmately they promised him success, and lordy has he found it.

I think the main reason teddy left was to improve his football can you really say he hasn’t improved since he left here? I think if Madge was in charge back then he would have stayed

Honestly, he hasn't lifted his game too much above what it was with our club. Playing in a team chocka-block full of rep players eases the burden on someone who would have to try and win every game off his own back playing for a struggling club who doesn't operate outside the salary cap.
Put Chris McQueen in the Roosters team and he would look amazing also, having 10 rep players alongside you taking the heat off would work wonders for anybody.

So he would be happy to play there for $100k?
It would be a bit easier to "promise success" when you are operating on an unlimited budget ala Roosters.
The bloke is a mercenary, he was on his way to Canberra for a payday before he was talked out of it by Farah a few years ago. Seems like a shifty sort of bloke from an outsider's point of view. That is probably why he copped a backhander from his Italy teammate for sleazing on his missus.

Media prefer a Rabbits success story, general population would prefer a Tigers one over Souths....

Is this true though? I think we used to be fairly popular with the general population but I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Certainly not from people I know that support other clubs.


We’re pretty likeable, I can’t recall anyone saying they hate the Tigers

IMO The Tigers are a popular "2nd team" and liked by the wider RL fandom for two reasons..

1. We USED to be an entertaining attacking team (Sheens days) that played beautiful football.
2. We are not a threat to anyone

People need to understand and get over Teddy. I spoke to his Uncle just before he debuted in NRL and the Tigers hadnt resigned him (the contract before he nearly went to Raiders). His Uncle told me then that Teddy wasnt real fussed on staying at the Tigers. His heart was never at the Tigers. We were a means to an end. That doesnt mean he is a bad guy or did anything wrong or Tigers didnt anything wrong, but its just a shame he didnt love the club as much as his Uncles do.
