The funniest part about all of this for me is the reports Billy Zillman is on $650K at the Titans. For all the moaning people do about WT's over-paid players, that one strikes hard.

And yet, the Titans have managed to emerge from cap hell to the extent that they have been able to sign Jarryd Hayne, Konrad Hurrell, Dan Sarginson and Kevin Proctor in the past nine months while the Tigers are STILL shedding first-grade players because their cap is such a mess.

I don't get the comparison? Recently Tigers have shed far fewer players than Titans have.

Since 2014 Titans have let go of 12, 15 and 10 players, including 7 retirements. In that same period Tigers moved on 13, 8 and 7 including 3 retirements.

So quite clearly Titans were still shedding large numbers of players into 2017 to afford the guys you have noted.

Tbh we probably should have shed more players as well

Bingo. If you need to shed players because they're overpaid for their performance, do it. Do it hard and do it quickly, because that's the quickest way to getting to the point where you can start to add again. The Tigers have been half pregnant since 2013 and show no sign of getting anywhere else.

You would think that must be the case. The only explanation is maybe they hav knocked them back just recently on a cap discount, or maybe the contracts are not registered yet.

Anyway like you I find it strange and maybe it's more sinister

We're not over the salary cap I believe Simona is on the outer and he has been offered more than the Tigers will offer him from the Titans.
WT have made a decision he is not worth the coin and would be lost next year in either case. If Zillman is thrown in he is on a low wage as he took a 5 year deal in 2012 before the Cap increased.
I am hearing Copley will be on his way to the Tigers who was subsidised by the Broncos initially but due to poor defence they don't want to pay his full contract which, is $320k p.a.The Roosters have SKD, Ferguson, Mitchell, Tupou in the backline so he is surplus to requirements.

Even the most ardent supporter will soon tire of WTs buying players who are not at NRL standard to replace genuine NRL players if this is true. This is an enormous rebuke to supporters who pay to attend games and purchase merchandise.

That makes sense to me. I doubt we'd want Zillman, more of a case of the titans wanting to offload him.
Copley for Simona would be good IMO

We still have Lovett on our books and have greedy players in Moses and Brooks which all they can ever say is…..it's in the hands of our Manager we just concentrate on footy and understand it's a Business .

I can't take this mediocrity anymore. I really can't. If we lose Simona, I'd rather blood a young guy coming through and save whatever we can rather than feeling obliged to spend and buying another variation of Rankin, Lovett or bloody Justin Hunt.

And if we are over the cap, why would we spend the money to buy someone else anyway?

I will be devastated if we lose Teddy or Moses.

Seriously why isn't there a transfer fee system in place because it's like we are farmers and the rest of the comp are Coles and Woolies who screw us over with pricing and take what we've grown. Meanwhile the rich clubs get richer and we are back at square one with soil, seeds and a rake.

agreed… I just figured that was an over-inflation of his salary.

$50 is an over-inflation of his salary, Billy Zillman is a very poor footballer. I've seen him do about 3 good things his entire career and only because he used to be fast and occasionally put into open space.

But on the list of NRL footballers I don't rate, he's up the top.

Deserves every cent of it , as long as its not our payroll , who cares :laughing:
