I thought from what I' seen of Simpkin he was around 18 months behind Harry Grant beginning of 2021

He won't be Harry Grant and won't get close ....he has none of the same attributes in his game

He literally doesn't play like McCullough at all, McCullough never runs and is an excellent defender. Simpkin loves to run and jump out of hooker but has struggled in defence a little.

I think a comparison to Grant was always silly, Grant looks a generational talent

Simkin shouldn't be judged on the end of year games.

No second teir comps running and the team was resigned to the fact that their season was over.

Grant is a few years older.

I think at that age Liddle was either just making grade or being injured.

He had a lot of setbacks. Did his shoulder, his ACL, the list goes on. It’s a credit to him that he fought through it and didn’t end up like Moltzen.

Killing it in 20's and missing his second year of junior SOO representation to make his NRL debut.

Both good youngsters with different playing styles and hope that Jake only suffers this one major injury setback, as it will be painful to watch another career curtailed similarly as was Liddle's. Simpkin is much chunkier and was a little surprised that he suffered so much from a seemingly innocuous incident, but hey, same with ACL injuries such as Talau's in a costly match.

Yeah, seems to have gotten his shoulders sorted out, a bit like Benji, though Jacob still doesn't hit as hard as he used to for mine, even though effective in defence anyhow. Still got reasonable speed when he gets going, but getting both his Posterior and Anterior ligaments ruptured by a team mate was a huge setback and he hasn't gotten all his forte zip at the ruck back.

Let us hope that this is just a one off for Simpkin.

14. Brooks

Simpkin to spend a year at Roosters or Manly or Rabbits as their back up or first choice hooker. We've secured him for 2 years and he's gonna develop a lot better at another club than here IMO. Lids can have all of this year to really cement his place with Brooks a good back up.
