Sironen close to re-signing: 4 Years

BMM is a good example of not kicking on however I think Sironen is worth the risk.

As for BMM how is he playing in State cup. I thought he was looking really good in first grade last year.
 
Sironen will be an absolute weapon. He has the size, mobility and ball-playing skills to be a very dangerous player to the opposition. As he develops he's defense will come along too as will his maturity with his body. A 4 year deal while his market value wouldn't be all that high is shrewd business. Trying to avoid a Tedesco situation perhaps?

exactly, could be a nuffie, could be injured or could be playing aus/origin. we don't know yet, so i'd give it a bit more time and even then only put him on a 3 year with 1 year option (ours). This should really be the standard contract we're handing out.

Wait for Teddy, wait for Sirro, wait for Potter.

Let us open the door for them so they can get offers from others
and we can go back to the drawing board.

We have 'em - they don't - let us keep it that way.
 
I would give every player thay signs with us a year in our favour if possible, gives Mayer extra time to negotiate without other teams trying to sign our players.

Barring serious injury I think Sironen will turn out to be a great backrower for many years to come.
He's fast for his size, got good hands, a kicking game - most importantly though is that he has a good work ethic.
At only 20 years old he will also put a lot more muscle on that big 195cm frame.
I have always liked BMM and hoped he would fulfil his undoubted potential but something keeps holding him back.
You hear a lot of rumours that he is a lazy trainer and I suppose that is reflected in his play. He can blow a team off the park with his size and speed but then go missing for most of the game.
He's a few years older than Sironen and had plenty of games in the top grade.
You would have thought he would have been in the top 17 this year for sure but it seems the other guys have got a stronger desire to be there.
He weighed over 150kg when he came to Keebra as a teenager so maybe it's a battle with his weight?
If he were to find a way to be more consistent him and Sironen would be a devastating partnership to go along with our great front row rotation.
He's signed until the end of next year so let's hope he finds some real form soon.
 
hope its a 4 year deal players like sirro don't come along every day and congrats to mayer for the job he is doing hope he can get teddy next
 
I reckon Sirro will end up with a physique more like his old man, but he will be quicker and definitely more skilful.

What's not to like about that?

BMM has failed to kick on for too long now, and who knows what reasons are behind this. But it's time to cut our losses there, wish him the best and concentrate on what IS working.

mate he will change clubs and come good for sure he needs a change I still think he is a good player
 
Oh dear, poor old BMM. He goes from being our best forward last year, with Potter extolling his damaging running, to being a player who has never kicked on! Rather than getting rid of him I'd like to see the club work out what motivated him to achieve last year's form and work with him. This is a player who could rise to great heights and if we punt him, probably will - against us.
 
2 years with a 1 year extension option I think would be the best bet at his age. The kid is talented but he has a long way to go.
 
I cant believe some are unsure about this. Any signing, at any time for however long is a risk. Locking up the best backrow prospect since SBW is a risk im willing to take.
 
I dont get the hesitation either… he is a good blend of skill, class and size. If they dont beat the ball player out of him he will be another good onfield utility for us to boot. It could be like the second coming of Payten.

If we lock Gavet in and finalise Teddy, we will have done an absolutely amazing retention job.
 
Mayer is handling this right if true,we have negotiated without luck for 2 months with Teddy,Mayer has shifted to Noffa and now it looks like Sirro,puts all the pressure back on Teddy and his manager.
Also with being injured I think Mayer now holds the cards,he can just say to Teddy,"you had your chance for 2 months,you didn't sign,so we signed Noffa and Sirro and we have this much left,take it or leave it".

IF true - Sirro for 4 years is a risk which is absolutely worth taking. Great player in the making and also seems to be a strong leader amongst the younger players. Will be very happy if this rumour is true.

& completely agree with 851\. Much as Tedesco at 1 for us for his whole career would be very nice indeed - we can;t hold everything up for him. What happens happens:

851 and Softlaw are on the money for me… Noffa and Simona are both dangerous enough runners with FB pedigrees, and as much as we all want Teddy to stick around, I would prefer to hold onto alot of young talent across the park, then be held to ransom by Teddy for big bucks when his park time hasnt been the greatest.

That said Teddy isnt lost yet....
 
Putting it the other way, if Siro turns out as good as we hope, the 4 year deal might end up being a steal.

There's always that risk - get him cheaper now but risk loss of form.
