The thing is it doesn't matter if Latrell gets 3 weeks or 4 weeks or 1 week, it doesn't help Tigers - we don't play Souths again until Round 16. There is no compensation for Tigers.

Agree. I'd like to see the NRL introduce a system where one weeks suspension is credited and served when that player next opposes the team he infringed. I.e If Latrell is found guilty and ordered to serve a 3 match suspension, he misses the next 2 rounds and our corresponding game. If that falls during the finals, then so be it.

What about a one match ban?

I would have been happy with a penalty - but not even that. He is leading the Dally M points Im expecting him to get off with an additional fine.

The NRL could fine WT and penalise Nofu for getting his head in the way of LM elbow.

The word thug is a race baiting term. If you don't mean anything racial by it just don't use it. Simple. You can google as much information on the subject as you want te educate yourself. The connotation is what it is and if you don't want to come across racially insensitive just don't use the term. There is no need to come out swinging when someone merely attempts to clue you in that the term has racial connotation.

I would have thought on a forum where people get banned for mild swears that this sentiment would get more support. Particularly given we support a club that is branding itself as inclusive to indigenous people.

Hmm and it turns out that thuggies were the religion loosely portrayed in Indian Jones and the temple of doom. Although it seems there more akin to a cult or group. Never the less, that was an interesting Wikipedia dive

What about Indiana Jones .....

Lol- people living the thug life.
Has no racial connotations at all ... unless black people have suddenly attached themselves to it?

How about the media beat up bringing up how Latrells father isn't well? Trying to play the sympathy card and get him off on that rubbish.

Hey Latrell you ratbag, I'm sorry your father isn't well, but that's got nothing to do with your actions in the field being against the rules of the game.

Doesn't AFL have a rule where if a player gets suspended they can't win their major award of the year? The brownlow or something? That sounds fair to me. We should have that.

The old Rothmans medal was like that.

Thug - A violent person, especially a criminal. Absolutely nothing to do with race. A violent person describes Latrine on the field well. A deadset thug on the field and has been for a long time.

My only problem with your post is in the first sentence. When you say a word IS something what does that mean? Does it have that meaning and several others? Or is it mutually exclusive with all other meanings? Or does it have that meaning when applied in a certain context, which in guessing is what you mean here.

However, that word is a reasonable English word to describe Latrell Mitchell on the field, perhaps the single best word that won't get you banned here. So while I do appreciate the extra context you provide, and will be more careful how I use that word, I disagree that anyone has used the word with even the slightest implication or Latrell being reprehensible because of his race, only for his actions.

I see a lot of these bullies doing well in the NRL.. I hate using the word soft but it sucks that someone like Mitchell can feel he can get away with doing something like that.

I'm disappointed that after seeing it on the big screen, we didn't rub his face in the dirt, or take him out after he's passed the ball, step on his arm, run at him with your elbows and knees high etc..

I feel for Noffa and Garner in the way that they took the shot but their teammates did nothing about it. I remember last year Brooks took on Gagai- Brooks isn't usually agressive so the guy must have been niggling on him for a while. Leilua or his centres at the time should've taken care of him.

We're still timid with an inferiority complex. Too focussed on being the nice guys who play fair..

Don't care what happens to Latrell, the lawyers will put up an argument with numerous others who have been let go for similar discretions.

100% but I do like the word soft because that is what we play like at times.

These actions against team mates occurred on a night when we actually looked interested and still nothing you could call malicious from us.
