Stadium Plan

PRIVATE INVESTMENT PUSH
There is a general agreement that Leichhardt and Campbelltown require a refurbishment in line with other NRL grounds – and that could mean private investment.

“We all readily acknowledge that Leichhardt needs work and it’s not of NRL standard as far as change rooms and corporate facilities,” Hagipantelis said.

“There was, of course, a promise of $50m which the Government reneged on and, unfortunately, there isn’t an election – state or Federal – for quite some time so it will be difficult for us to bring any pressure to bear on government to fund any upgrade to Leichhardt Oval.

“But we are in earnest discussions with council – Campbelltown, Liverpool and the Inner-West – about what can be done to raise funding and we are prepared to explore all options, including private equity into the stadiums, if available, to help fund refurbishments of those stadiums.

“We would even be open, and in fact encourage, private equity. We’re exploring those opportunities; investors who are prepared to invest in the redevelopment of a stadium for a return on that investment whereby they would have an equitable holding in those facilities, an ownership share.

“There would be some arrangement made where they receive a return on their investment as a joint venture with council, who are open to discuss the opportunity but there would be a detailed and lengthy process to get through from a council perspective.

“I can’t envisage any scenario where Wests Tigers will not play at Leichhardt Oval in the future. Leichhardt Oval is an institution and it will always figure largely in the Wests Tigers calendar so the suggestion we will never play another game there has got no basis or merit whatsoever.”

Will end up like our roads. We will be paying a fortune to walk through the gates so the investors get a return on their dollars

Looks like people on here can’t agree on which ground to use, so I’ll move to have our home games at a place where we have a 100% win record, and that is Carrington Park Bathurst.
Suits me! 90 minute drive versus 5 hours!

Seriously, though, I think this is really good news.

If your a smart man, playing the remaining sides in the joint venture would bring in the private investment

To tigers diehards: we’ll we said we want to go back to suburban grounds, but LO really need some of the Balmain supporter to dig deep to make sure the NRL approve it and that it has a long and successful future.

To wests die hards: I know we are about to get some government funding but wow you should really see what a few of those Balmain benefactors are doing to LO! It’s such a shame that CSS is never mentioned in the same standing. We just need a few dollars thrown in by the wests side and we could really make CSS the jewel in the crown.

All those that choose not to play in taking sides: Sit back and enjoy two top notch suburban stadiums and possibly with any luck never hearing the sound of hot potato again.

(Ps there is a chance it’s written into the contract that the big red bus is played after every try)

So Australias first indoor stadium with Meriton apartments on top.

I honestly wouldn't change a thing about either Leichhardt Oval or Campbelltown Stadium. LO is freaking awesome and Campbelltown is a vibe on its day as well.

Just play footy. If you want to have a prawn sandwich up in a private box, that's what the Waratahs or Swans are for. Both our traditional grounds work fine and remember its still only 5 games at each every season.

Honestly, great news for the whole joint venture.

Pascoe is a lot of things, but he does know how to secure external investment. God only knows how he got the funding for not just 1, but 2 COEs (Cambo one). He'll be in his element here.
