I think talau will end up in the back as he is getting bigger he’s also getting slower. I’d play him lock he will get a big test this week if he’s marking too

This old chestnut. We can never have a centre debut without someone calling for them to move to the backrow. It’s like clock work.

Everytime there’s a big outside back everyone says that lol. Joey Leilua is a career centre who’s big enough to be a forward. As long as they are still mobile it’s good that they’re big and Powerful.

Talau has the makings of a fine centre. WTs issue is we have failed to retain any winger with a semblance of genuine pace over 100m - Koroibete, JAC or even Papenhuyzen. Match him or Hoffman with one of these players and your attack moves into a different gear.

It’s so important to have a good centre/winger combination. If your centre is poor your winger won’t see much footy, if your winger is poor the centre does all the work for nothing. That’s why Nofa is having such a good year so far Joey is a strike centre.

Talau will keep improving and getting better hopefully he can have another good game this week. Is the lining up against To’o or Mansour? Both wingers aren’t very tall we should try kick at Talau

This is a rare game where I think our wingers are taller. There will be huge pressure on Lucy as Cleary will be kicking for Kikau all night.

Talau isn't small, he's 187cm (almost 6.2ft), and is above the average NRL winger and on par with the tallest centres.

The below comparison shows the difference from 2004 to 2020 in height for all positions.

IMO we should continue to play Talau on the left wing and see how he progresses.

Yes I know, one of the reasons I like Talau on the wing is he’s > 6ft. Usually in the past we’ve never had much height on the wing with the exception of Jennings whose other deficiencies eliminated any height advantage.

What I was saying is that Talau is much taller than To’o and Nofo and Mansour are about even. They have zero height advantage over us. There’s no possibility for an Edrick Lee situation this game. Kikau is their threat in the air.

Yeah I totally agree and I really want to see Brooks and Jrey target both edges with spiralling kicks.

Mansour is generally pretty safe but Brian To'o is suspect.

Kikau will definitely be a target. Hopefully he continues to have butter fingers, 1.6 errors/dropped balls on average per game so far.

Willie is 182cm, so just above average. But he was super stocky which makes him look shorter.

Yeah that’s who Cleary has kicked to every game. Luciano is actually pretty decent in the air too, he’s got good hands quite often at dragons he scored off high kicks. That’s gonna be a good matchup, gotta rush up on Kikau and slow him down

What a shame they are on opposite sides of the field..

Oh whoops yep you’re right. Garner will have his hands full.

Reynolds too. Leilua should go well against Crichton though, Nofa and Mansour are about equal.

Mbye and Whare are very similar centres, Talau against To’o will be interesting he’ll have a big height advantage.

Talau isn't small, he's 187cm (almost 6.2ft), and is above the average NRL winger and on par with the tallest centres.

The below comparison shows the difference from 2004 to 2020 in height for all positions.

IMO we should continue to play Talau on the left wing and see how he progresses.

yeah he looks really tall. His old man looks short though

Willie is 182cm, so just above average. But he was super stocky which makes him look shorter.

good point!

like i've said a few times on here, Tommy is definitely got his looks from his mum's side haha. He's a handsome kid.

Joey Leilua running at Crichton is good though he’s weak defensively

Crichton wins in a aerial contest vs Leilua tho as well as Speed

Leilua steamrolls him tho

Kikau is the danger in the air on the left.

Just gotta number up on him when they kick it that way, he and Kikau are the aerial targets. When Joey is running Crichton won’t be able to handle him, Waqa Blake ran him over

I actually like our 1-5 vs theirs, I think we measure up quite well. The problem is the forwards with Twal and Musgrove out. Fisher-Harris, Tamou and Yeo have all been in very good form recently. If we can keep it together while those guys are on I think we'll be competitive.

Yeah their forward pack is tremendous. Their attack inside the 20 is actually pretty average just gotta keep our line speed up against their big fellas and not let them get a roll on

Hope talau plays a bit better this time around against Penrith he was awful in the trial against the pennies
