This old chestnut. We can never have a centre debut without someone calling for them to move to the backrow. It’s like clock work.
Everytime there’s a big outside back everyone says that lol. Joey Leilua is a career centre who’s big enough to be a forward. As long as they are still mobile it’s good that they’re big and Powerful.
Talau has the makings of a fine centre. WTs issue is we have failed to retain any winger with a semblance of genuine pace over 100m - Koroibete, JAC or even Papenhuyzen. Match him or Hoffman with one of these players and your attack moves into a different gear.
It’s so important to have a good centre/winger combination. If your centre is poor your winger won’t see much footy, if your winger is poor the centre does all the work for nothing. That’s why Nofa is having such a good year so far Joey is a strike centre.
Talau will keep improving and getting better hopefully he can have another good game this week. Is the lining up against To’o or Mansour? Both wingers aren’t very tall we should try kick at Talau
This is a rare game where I think our wingers are taller. There will be huge pressure on Lucy as Cleary will be kicking for Kikau all night.
Talau isn't small, he's 187cm (almost 6.2ft), and is above the average NRL winger and on par with the tallest centres.
The below comparison shows the difference from 2004 to 2020 in height for all positions.

IMO we should continue to play Talau on the left wing and see how he progresses.
