OFFICIAL Taylan "Tiny" May

AD seems nothing like a lock to me. He has just about the world's slowest play the ball, seems to have lost a lot of strength and is not a strong tackler. Most locks, even the little ones, are hard running, strong players.

I think we all like doueihi but if May works out he shouldn't be in first grade for long.

It's great to have depth though, doueihi has done a decent job at centre.

I agree mate. AD reminds me a bit of Campbell-Graham. Tall and strong, but probably limited mobility and takes a while to wind up. A lot of people say he’s slow, he’s actually pretty quick but just doesn’t have the acceleration with his movements.

His improved defence and ball playing does leave a bit of a question mark on whether he could play lock though and help link the halves.

Sick of reading this.

We all know what he has been like defensively. The suggestions have been to try him there, we have nothing to lose. His frame and skillset suit that role perfectly, throw him in. Watch his defence. Work on it.

If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. A lot more upside to trying it then not.

Don't read it then mate, he;s a 1st grader and an established one at that if you think he's going to get dramatically better in D i think your on the wrong horse.

Do you recall a few seasons ago when the Roosters pumped us by 60 odd, Doueihi dropped his mouth guard. But instead of defending without it he left the line to pick it up leaving a massive hole which they strolled through.

I don't think you have to be a dangerous runner.

He is a strong runner, he makes good PCM and most importantly he can ball play and link up with the halves. Think he's got everything to make a good lock, if he can defend there.
Attack wise has many traits but on the other side, he lacks effort areas in defence, not sure on his marker defence and ability to quickly get back in the D line & still have good line speed.

No doubt this kid has done the wrong thing, made some mistakes and also he has seemed to got away with it all quite lightly in the great scheme of things.

He has a lot to do to clear his image up and sure, rehab and all that is a step in the right direction. Hope he continues to better himself and right his wrongs.

I think it's quite great of our club to give him a chance and hopefully he can repay the faith by being a good person & helping us out on the field..

I can see why some aren't keen on this signing.
I hope he can win everyone over and make the most of a second chance, an opportunity and realise his potential, as a player and as a man.

Good luck Tiny.

I’ve just read an article in the SMH that he’s rejected South’s, had a medical with us and is possibly being offered a train and trial deal so he can play with his brother.
So my previous comment looks wrong, and he could be playing for us in a few weeks.
What do I know, nothing it seems!
Jesus Hal, you picked the horse and placed your bet in th straight and still missed a place ?? 😆🤣

Yup - not sure either. Lets find out though.

He has already improved his defence from last season - he's 26 years old. Are you telling me he, and others at his age, can't get better?

Anyway, this isn't about AD.

Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. Let's hope Taylan can get his life back on track.

It's a good signing. All this chat about whether he's up to it or if he'll stay out of trouble. But he's on a train and trial, literally bare minimum. We can't go wrong. If it all blows up then he gets released and we move on. Which other centre is available to sign to join us right now?
That's it, there's absolutely no risk. We put clauses in the contract, he stuffs up we tear it up and move on. Terrell won't be angry cause we gave him a go, the media won't pike on cause he has history. Little down side and plenty of upside. Half time yesterday I saw the way the lads were intently listening to Benji, the guys genuinely respect and like him. His family first approach might just be what's needed to help the young guy really turn things around in his life.

Is May a winger or a centre. Preety much all the highlights ive seen of him is being in left wing position
His rookie season which made everyone take notice of him was on the wing. He was lethal. Tackle busts galore with some great finishes.

After his injury and with the departure of Stephen Crichton, they moved him to centre. He was meh. From memory his defence was okay but his attack was lackluster.

Good wing depth. Needs a lot of work to be a good centre.
