Te Maire Martin to Centre?

Martin is not overly different situation and skill set to Mbye.

The difference is Mbye and the Dogs have had the patience to wait until he 21, his body has filled out more, and now he can come into grade as much closer to the finished product.

Even for Mbye he had the Origin halves in front of him at the Dogs but was happy to work his way up, although i'm sure clubs would have offered him first grade.

Martin needs to do the same and I certainly hope he re-signs for another year or two shortly. He has a lot of friends at the club and will surely be playing nsw cup soon enough.

Once he's of age and size if there are no opportunities for him here to play NRl then i won't begrudge him the move. If he moves now to develop further in another team's nsw cup side then that would be far more disappointing. Like all NYC players he need to work on his defence.

And as was discussed in a thread about a month ago, he looks like he will fill out nicely and be in the low 90kgs in a couple of years time. A similar build to benji, slightly bigger if anything.

Problem is modern day centres are mostly 190cm+ and 100kgs+. Our current centres are 180-185cm and 90kgs so giving up a fair bit of size to our opposition already. But then if you're good enough youre big enough.

If this kid is as good as they say i would be keeping him regardless of Moses, the laters kicking game against the GC was one of the worst i have witnessed in FG for a long time, not to mention his atrocious defence and reluctance to run the ball in attack.

I'm surprised Moses kicking game hasn't been mentioned elsewhere - it has been ordinary most of the season but definitely sunk to a new low against the Titans.

It's been mentioned DP. Both halfs kicking game is bad. Needs a lot of work.

We should look into signing this young lady. I'm sure she'd fit into our cap comfortably and has a bit of courage about her in defence.

Love to have her in the team. Will put some of our boys to shame.

I don't mind blooding players, let's see if they can step up.

Obviously Taylor has his sights on Seve, putting him into reggies for the past few weeks.

The Sea Eagles are believed to be in talks with unwanted Canberra half Mitch Cornish but another option may be Junior Kiwi and Wests Tigers Holden Cup five-eighth Te Maire Martin.

Martin helped guide Keebra Park, the same high school as Benji Marshall attended, to win the Australian national schools title.

According to Kimmorley, who coaches the young gun in the 20s, Martin could be an option for the Titans should they elect not to shell out big money on an experienced half.

“If they are looking to buy the next up and coming kid then maybe Te Maire Martin,” Kimmorley offered.

“He is off contract at the Tigers and the next gun kid coming through.”

A member of the 2014 NYC team of the year, Martin played rugby exclusively until 2012 when he made the switch to league.

Martin’s NRL pathway is blocked by Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks meaning he will need to leave the Tigers in order to play first grade.

I am starting to lose my patience with the cost to this club of Moses and Brooks. We have lost Blake Austin because the club have invested too much money on these two and now it is likely that Martin will leave the club for the same reason. In the meantime what have Moses and Brooks offered to the club in 2015?

Kimmorley really comes across as a pundit first and foremost, and nyc coach second. He has to choose his priorities.

Although in this instance it seems he's been quoted out of context. I'm sure he didn't come out and just suggest that but while talking about the GC and their options if a journo asks about kids coming through in the NYC, such as Martin it would make sense that Kimmorley mentions the number one 5/8 in the NYC as stating the bloody obvious, especially seeing there's a link to the GC already.

As is a stated above a number of young halves wait until 21 before moving for an opportunity and TMM should do the same. One injury could open a huge opportunity for him..!

Is Kimmorley for real ?? :crazy

Did Kimmorley just hit himself in the head with one of his golf clubs ??

My patience is really wearing thin with this club.

Firstly Martin is a must keep, he is simply too good to let go.

Secondly what kind of culture have we got here when a coach is saying crap like this in the media. Its not in the clubs best interest.

Just one disappointment to the next.

Did i read that right? A coach is endorsing another club's interest in one of his players?

What universe does this club operate in

Well at least we know where Kimmorley's allegiance lies , and it ain't at the WT's

Coaches in the media just doesn't work

I cant help but read more into it. Possibly his little voice isnt being heard by the big coaches.

The trouble with this club is that we have two young gun halves that have yet to fire some shots…we let talented people go to accomodate them, and while we are teaching them some other fine talents are being developed and are looking the goods.....FOR SOMEONE ELSE...
I know,I know, our current halves are going to be sensational, they need time,we have no expererienced players to support them, they will be superstars that will be the formation of a super WTs team..unfortunately we will have to wait and see if all this comes to fruition,in the meantime all the juniors we develope and bring them through, will no doubt go to other clubs so the can play in an NRL squad..just makes you wonder at times....
