Good posts the last two

Sad to see supporters turning on him because they are impatient….its not your life hes dealing with

Exactly right Ink

As I said , if anyone knows how quickly your career can be turned upside down it is James Tedesco

Whats the hurry ?? Its not as if it is September and no one else is on the market

I dont think there are many, if any, turning on him. Its just that a period of nothing happening can work both ways if a player is holding out for more money. As I said in an earlier post, a few weeks ago I was despondent at the thought of Teddy going. But on reflection, I accept the situation as outlined by Supercoach - if someone wants to pay massive 'overs' then let them. Life will go on and we will come up with another fullback. We have Moses signed for 3 more years. If Austin makes a go of five eight then Mitchell may well be a very capable fullback. And there will be money in the kitty to retain the likes of Gavet whose value must have gone up considerably this year.

I'd take whoever is offering the most money unless I felt like I was virtually guaranteed to become a rep player by taking the lower paying offer but only if it was marginally lower…

I think that you have to realise that at the moment it is not Tedesco who is in complete of his future, it is his agent.

Gotta disagree Newtown

Its the club , they either pay him what he wants ,don't pay him what he wants or try to compromise a deal

As most things in this day and age its complicated , we just have to be patient and hope all the pieces fall into place and we can keep all parties happy and he resigns

For my money, the whole situation is due to contract worth inflation from Teddy's manager. They were essentially playing hard ball and WT were biting their fingernails as they didn't want to call their bluff (just incase he left).
Now that he is injured, I would bet my money that WT have called their bluff and the whole situation has been brought to a halt. If Teddy's form somehow gets even better (and lets face it, if he didn't get injured it would have continued rising) then they might be in a position to play hard ball again.

Honestly, I'm over it. He's probably my favourite player atm but he's not worth more than $350k. HES PLAYED LIKE 20 FG GAMES FFS

What are you talking about ? Canberra and Bulldogs are both making a play for him and are willing to offer a lot more than Wests Tigers.
Roosters and other clubs like Cronulla and Newcastle can also come into the picture as the list of "off contract" quality players decreases and as teams realise they need to upgrade for next year.
There is no doubt other clubs are after him. What's the bluff ?
The only one trying to bluff people is Grant Mayer telling everyone his priority is to resign local juniors. Tedesco doesn't strike me as stupid and should not be treated that way.

It's easy to sign players when you have little competition for their signature.

Yes there is. People are getting the shits because it's dragged on so long. It gives people the feeling of shady dealings and dishonesty from the players management.

Tedesco not in the top 10 fullbacks hey? He might not be the most noted in terms of recent history ie. Hayne, Slater, Dugan, Stewart, but IMO was the most in form fullback in the game at the start of this season before injury. His rise to superstar will be dramatic if he can stay injury free. You're paying for potential and what he could be. An incentive based contract that goes up every year would be the go in his case.

Needs to be resigned before his back from injury his only going to come back bigger and stronger than ever.

And just in case you missed my other thread post

The best-performed fullbacks this season in terms of CVR are Wests Tigers rookie James Tedesco (474.16), South Sydney’s Greg Inglis (443.46), Manly’s Brett Stewart (400.62), Parramatta’s Jarryd Hayne (367.33) and Canberra’s Anthony Milford (338.74).

The CVR scoring system was devised at the end of 2010 by then Manly coach Des Hasler and number crunchers from Sportsdata, the NRL’s official statisticians, to provide a database to evaluate player performances in 30 categories.

You can't be serious, all those players were wanted by other clubs, and all those players re-signed pretty quickly, unlike Teddy who has taken months and still no closer to signing, and that is the cause of the frustration from the fans.

To preface, I think Tedesco is a top talent and I want him to stay at Tigers.

Metrics like CVR though need to be treated carefully - they still contain bias due to the weightings given to each contributing stat. Are tackles or hitups or tries more important? Are forward passes, dropped balls or missed tackles more damaging?

Same as fantasy football - used to be all about high-tackling backrowers until they recently tweaked the scoring.

Tedesco has only played 5 games this year - 5 great games certainly, but it's a small sample. He's also missed 4 games, which means he contributes 0 in those matches.

So against CVR, on consensus Tedesco would not be the best fullback in the comp, nor is Brett Stewart currently going around as 3rd.

How come people get so narky if it takes time to come to an agreement. It is the kids future, and you cant blame him for weighing up his options an alike, also, we dont want the club rolling over and giving into every demand from the player.
There has to be negotiation and it takes time.

If he decides to go elsewhere, it does not mean that he is greedy or the club is hopeless, it means that someone else valued him higher or could afford more.

It is very difficult to put a price on Teddy, as a key position player he is valuable, but how valuable, he shows huge potential, but also is yet to be proven really, he has only played a 20 ish games. Any price for Teddy is going to include some dollars for potential, but how much!

If someone offers him over half a million, that is huge money and would be difficult to say no to, even if it means living in Canberra in a struggling side, I can definitely understand if he goes, and it is very difficult for us to match.

I hope we keep him, but if he leaves (which will be terrible news, i wont be bagging either him or Mayer)
