THE 4......THREAD

I've started to look closer on the whole big 4 contract situation, and I've come to terms that the starting 5 rounds will either make or break our season.

Depending on how we start, for example if we have a solid start and win let's say 4 out of the first 5 games. I reckon Teddy, Moses, Woods and Brooks will go bang bang bang and sign extensions depending on if the money is right and it'll really set a tone for the rest of the season and if Brooks can have a solid season I can see us making the top 4.

But if we have a bad start to the season, all the media will be on Taylor and it'll cause a massive distraction to our season and the big 4 will be reluctant to sign.

That's my analysis on the whole situation.

I'm not having that.
They'll make their decisions based on what they see as the best for their careers - be it the most $$, the best situation in which to grow, where their mates are or whatever else it comes down to. Basing the next 5 years of their lives on a 4-5 week stretch of games is ridiculous.

Does Isaac Moses really have all 4 under his contract management?

I don't know why this isn't the main talking point. Think about it, why would all 4 join under the one manager.

The only reason I can think of is an all or nothing pact. We have all 4 stars you want, they want to stick together, they want 600-800K each. Pay up or they walk.

Lastly on the first 5 games. From past experience I can see us beating say Melbourne and the Sharks but loosing to the Dragons and Newcastle. Then again I think we have had a good record vs Melbourne and I think that is because Farah can at least stand up to Smith (Farah plays a very aggressive in your face game. I would only rate him and Andrew McCullough against Smith at all. Maybe Nathan Peats too).
Smith however would run over Ballin, Mcilwick or even Jordan Rankin.

I prefer them to be managed by Isaac Moses then Sammy.

I love this nickname "the big 4"….
Brooks is decent enough but only an average half by NRL standards, mainly due to his lack of involvement when the heat is on and poor work ethic.
Moses has played maybe a dozen great games for us. He is not an 80 minute half.
Woods is quality but gets lazier every year. Now he is a tv star as well....
Teddy is high quality but misses a lot of games. Without good foils around him, he becomes markable.

I dont want to lose any of them as we have sunk so many resources into their development but fair dinkum, lets get a top ROI before we label them in this way.

Wow; that is pretty hard hitting. And pretty much on the mark, although you could have been even harsher on Brooks.

aaron woods has to stay.

He is respected,is the teams only state of origin player and is media gold.

teddy, moses and brooks in priority order after that.

The big four is more like the big 2.5 to me.

Teddy/Moses are a must. Woods…meh, brooks meh x 2.

What they need to do is split them up

Tedesco 4 years
Moses 3 years
Woods 2 ywars
Brooks 1 year

To ensure not 2 players come off contract at same time again

Having 2 at a time is fine. You can't re-sign any of them on a one year deal. It's completely pointless, and I doubt any of them would agree, nor should they.

If Woods is meh, what is the rest of the pack?
He's a proven performer at all levels and we arnt that fussed about him? I dont get it.
