THE 4......THREAD

Sounds more like Woodsy would be fine if it's Taylor but he'd also be happier with some other coaches too.

Why on earth you'd want to be a coach is beyond me!

If they want JT as coach they better win, him as coach is really up to the big 4….

The way Brooks played on the weekend you could almost say he intentionally did that so JT wouldn't be here, some of his mistakes were bigger than brain snaps.

I read it that woodsy wants Taylor to stay. There's been a lot of articles about how happy the team is, surely that wouldn't be the case if they hated the coach.

As a player, Woods is well within his right to want to know who will be the coach. Its also within his rights to get the best possible deal. As a captain though, his comments are extremely poor. He's not backing his club at all which is what a captain should do. Last year Lawrence did something quite selfless when he amended his contract. That's showing commitment and loyalty, so why is Woods captain when he only (quite rightly as a player) thinks of himself? Not becoming of a captain given recent actions of some of his teammates.

Analise this one peeps.

"You don't want to waste three or four years of footy and not be happy (under a coach you don't like)."

How come it didn't concern Jack De Belin?????…expected better from Woodsy...Last few years he was all about talking up his passion for the WT #2041, etc etc...this year we don't hear a peep from him along those lines.....

Yep…spot on....and you never hear Brooks come out like Josh Reynolds does and criticise his performances for the team when he Dogs(pun) it...

On 360 woods was full of excuses for the halves. Blamed the forwards, the 9, their young age. Kent grilled him and said Brooks and Moses are requesting top player money so they can't request top tier money and still use the excuse their young halves. If their young then and still learning let's pay them like that then. Woods then said its round 2.

You would hope they would be a far happier outfit if they actually won a few more games. Anyway Ivan Cleary,Bellyache,Bennett, who ever, do you think they could turn the place around??? I have my doubt, sure they might have the ability to attract some better players to the club, but with our current roster we have there are way to many once a month footballers. A player like Sue comes to mind, 1 standout game, 1 ok game and two sun standard games a month, you just can not compete with the better sides when half your roster is incapable of stringing three good games a month, and I do not think anyone can turn that around. Like our defence, how many defence coaches, how many times have they revamped their defensive structure and it still is like swiss cheese..why, because the same players for what ever reason just don't get what is required to defend as a unit..Okay than you say well the coach must put his hand up and take responsibility because the buck stops with him, but the coach has one hand tied behind his back as he is basically stuck with the roster. Lets face he tried to move Nagamia on, he tried to move Rankin on and he tried to move Lovett on with no success.

Anyway I think out of our starting 17 we need probably six new faces and four of them quality, before I am willing to start screaming for a new coach. Okay if a Bellyache was willing to come, I would never say no, but my expectations would not be great without a major revamp of our playing roster

Good point raised by Kent. Can't have it both ways. Brooks debuted 4 seasons ago for christ's sake. If he has it, we should be seeing it by now. Moses has at least made progress. Brooks has shown little. Just cut your losses already, sign a back rower, make a player for Gareth Widdop or someone similar and get on with it. And if we're still conceding 4 or 5 tries per game half way through the yr then the coach can go too.

Stupid comments from a team captain, he should be encouraging the others to stay rather than voicing that garbage. So now if JT stays and he leaves, he looks like an idiot.

Not necessarily mate … Maybe their hanging out for a decent coach ?

This is probably wood's way of being nice about the situation .

Yeah agree, I can understand that players want to learn and grow as footballers so to me Woods comments are fine. It is nice to have a boss/coach who can drive and develop the team no different in working life really.

Hard to argue with that.

We shouldn't even be trying too hard to retain Brooks. He's delivered so little since his debut, and unfortunately I think he has had better displays when Moses is injured.

Teddy, Moses, Woods, Nofoaluma. They're our priorities IMO.

Agreed Bogan.

Put replace Brooks with Littlejohn.

You need one dominant half. For us that is Moses.

Brooks' defence is farcical. He doesn't even try to tackle guys. He is a pussy

SuperCoach, I'm glad that more are starting to see Sue's shortcomings on the field, and see that his good performances are very infrequent.
I've never been able to understand the wraps that some put on him
He goes missing so often that he needs a map.
As for the Coach , what he's been doing isn't working, but he still spills out the line that were not far away. From What!!!!!
3 of Our last six games ( half) have been thrashings, and we still get treated like idiots with
Bs being spread thickly about our performances by Taylor.
Defending our halves on Sunday was ridiculous . Maybe it's time to tell it like it is and stop mollycoddling them. Moses needs to be told that a good game every now and then doesn't make him a superstar , ( or even a good first grader) .
The same goes for Brooks only more so.
Taylor looks like he has no real answers, and sounds like it as well.
Maybe a bit of public embarrassment for this over paid bunch of non achievers is overdue and maybe they need a real shake up.
3 thrashings from 6 games is a telling statistic. And could easily be 4 thrashings from 7 games if this team can't be lifted to give a better performance this week

Tiger4life - please answer the question - all you basically said was repeating your previous post.

If you let our halves go (you said) - who do you replace them with (I said) ?

Names please and cost.

As for everyone talking about 800k and 1 million for our halves :-

Could you please quote where I can find Brooks, Moses, their Manager or the Tigers Club mentioning any money figure at all on how much they are worth.

I 'll tell you where - nowhere - just some ratbags pulling figures out of the air that know nothing.

Thank you wise guy. There are over 40 halves off contract next year.

Click the link and have a look for yourself.

In regards to how much they want, if you understood the english language you would see that i said "if" these guys are asking for $800k or more than i dont think they are worth it.

The experts on here keep saying that halves need a good forward pack to play behind. In order to do that we need to spend our salary cap very wisely. Outlaying overs for young halves who still havent delivered is very very risky.

After Teddy and Woods we have to look at our forward pack and if we can still afford Moses that is good but if we can't it's not the end of the world, as for the no7 I think the money he wants can be spent a lot better elsewhere

Im happy to pay overs for Woods and Tedesco. They have a trait we haven't had in years which is consistency. Re-signing them two is so so important. Id even say Nofa is now our 3rd most important signing. As for our halves, if someone is willing to pay $1million or whatever they think they are worth then you know what see you later. We would then have plenty of money to spend on bulking our forward pack (evans and McQueen) get a decent speedy centre and winger. If we need to pay $1million dollars each to keep our halves then we wont have money left to build our squad and we will just stay in this position for a long long time.

OK, you let both halves go - who will we have in these two positions?
Be realistic here - what haves that are available are better than ours?

You missed this T4L

Ive already told you im married and not interested. Stop folowing me around like a bad smell.

NRL season 2017: The key question facing West Tigers' big four

Michael Chammas - SMH

The whispers about the Tigers' big four wanting to know who will be coaching the side next year before committing to the club are getting louder. But chief executive Justin Pascoe has stated the future of Jason Taylor hasn't been a topic of discussion throughout negotiations with the quartet's manager, Isaac Moses.

"We've had no discussions with their management about it," Pascoe said. "I think there's more to a football side now than just one single coach … there's a whole football program in place." The Tigers will rightfully give Taylor every opportunity to earn a contract extension. But the equation is simple: play finals football and Taylor stays or miss the eight and they move on to their fourth coach in seven years. Barring an early-season capitulation, it means Aaron Woods, James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks will have to decide where they will play in 2018 and beyond without knowing who will coach the Tigers.

There has been talk in the past about a desire to play under their junior coach, Todd Payten – who is now an assistant coach at the Cowboys. However, Taylor appears to have the support of the playing group after a drama-plagued 2016 campaign. The club won't rush to a decision on Taylor and will allow the results of this season to dictate the future of the club.

Interestingly Woods was on NRL 360 on Tuesday night and admitted he would want to know who would be coaching the club in 2018 and beyond before committing to the club. "You don't want to commit to somewhere you don't know what's happening," Woods said. "They want all four of us to sign but at the same time you need to know who is going to be the head coach and what systems they want to have in place. We don't want to waste the next three years of footy not being happy." Pascoe insists the club is having positive discussions with their manager. "We've committed to them and we've committed to their management that we're going to have these discussions in private out of respect to them and the process and their teammates."

Looks like we can scrap whatever hope we had of announcing one or two of them going into the Leichhardt game next week. I don't see the club making a call on Taylor one way or the other till at least round 12\. That's the earliest time you can make a fair assessment imo. So, that means this rubbish will probably drag on another 3 months. Brooks and Moses ought to be very careful. If we're struggling, they're price tag is going to suffer big time.

We're not far away from not getting lapped every few rounds? Not far away from putting in two decent performances in a row? Not far away from setting a new missed tackle record? I'm just theorising.

I'm with you. I'm VERY worried about this Canberra game. I'm depressed enough without another flogging added to it. 😢
