THE 4......THREAD

Luke Brooks has agreed to a two-year $1.1 million deal to stay at the Wests Tigers – but the future of his halves partner Mitchell Moses is in limbo as the five-eighth weighs up an offer from Parramatta.

The Wests Tigers have finally secured the services of one of the big four, with Brooks accepting an Ivan Cleary approved contract worth close to $550,000 a season.

Fairfax Media understands James Tedesco is now weighing up a massive four-year, $4.5m deal that will see him become one of the highest-paid players in the game.

Cleary officially began his tenure at the Tigers on Monday, but he signed off on revised contract offers that were tabled to the "big four" last Friday.

Moses was offered a three-year deal – but it is becoming increasingly likely he will depart Tigertown, with the Eels joining the race for his services.

Parramatta are keen on luring Moses back to his junior club but won't fork out ridiculous money for a player who still has to live up to his enormous potential. While the Eels are happy with the development of Clint Gutherson, they have been on the look-out for a play-maker to partner Corey Norman in the long term.

Nathan Cleary is happy at the Panthers and won't walk out on his deal to link up with his dad at the Tigers, but ironically both Brooks and Cleary come off contract at the end of 2019.

Tigers skipper Aaron Woods has also had a three-year deal put to him, with the NSW Origin prop weighing up whether he wants to be part of the Cleary revolution.

Fairfax Media has been told Cleary told the players "You're either on the bus or off the bus" in his first meeting with the group on Monday morning.

The Bulldogs have made a huge play at both Woods and Tedesco, but it's likely the decision of one could determine the future of the other. Canterbury aren't keen on retaining Will Hopoate, who has been shopped around to several clubs as the Bulldogs look to clear the decks for next year.

Five-eighth Josh Reynolds and hooker Michael Lichaa are also off contract at Belmore, with whispers about James Graham being shopped to Newcastle getting louder.

The way it is ATM, I could live with losing Moses if it means retaining Tedesco and Woods. As for Brooks, I'm prepared to give him a go under Cleary.

The more I see Moses play and his non exsistant defence maybe the club is going to dodge a
bullett,I cringe at the money he expects for the performances he puts in .Is he the con of the decade?

He has a massive ego which i could understand if his performances matched it but they dont. Not fussed if he goes.If we keep the other 3 i will be content

So funny..end 2016 Brooks get rid of him…Moses must have...

fickle bunch...

I'm happy to see Brooks stay. He's shown in the games he's played without Moses, that he can play. Hopefully now he may get the Coaching that the he needs to be a real success.
Happy to see the last of the Moses ego if he leaves.

I get nervous about players perfornance and massive contracts. Teddy beware I say - can be the best form destroyer there is. What ever pressure he feels now will be twofold once people know what he is being paid whoever he plays for - hope he can handle it.
The very reason why I dont think it will be us - dont think he wants to be a player we will bulid a team around just wants to be in a winning team . We'll see soon enough I guess.

Brooks is a better player than Moses for sure. He has more strings to his bow. Moses is flashier but has nowhere near the passing game. Brooks is even a better running player. Brooks primary improvements need to be made in effort, fitness, defense and support play. He needs some leadership training too.

I think it's great that we have one committing. I hope teddy and woods are next.

I did say earlier that Issac would look to get his weakest link signed first and then he can wheel and deal with the other three.

Interesting the woods roumurs linking him to the dogs are not going away, he is our captain. If he does leave and uses the semi's excuse then JT was a bad judge of character and commitment.

Imagine 12 months ago our supporters turning on Tedesco. Hell imagine it a month ago. Isaac Moses has damaged these kids reputations significantly among their own suppprter base.

I agree. They should sack this guy. He hasn't been good for them at all.

Well can't believe we've re-signed the myth and for a reported half mill…............................Nah can not believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have an issue with his ego or chattiness on the pitch. I like halves who are lippy and show a bit of confidence.

I know that halves aren't expected to be world class defenders, but his lack of application in defence last weekend is not commensurate with what he is asking.

The Myth will never be good under any coach in the world. I'm SO gutted since I've heard this news. Half a million dollars!!!!!!!! He's not worth half that!!!!!!!
As for Moses he hasn't got an ego at all.

One thing I've noticed is no matter who we've had in the halves, they have a high missed tackle count - even Littlejohn who I think is an okay defender.

I'm not saying Brooks/Moses are great defenders, but I think the way our defense is structured, any half would miss tackles.

I think Geo the problem is Brooks is coming quite a bit cheaper now and Moses has fallen away dramatically in the last 5 weeks.

I personally have always been of the opinion that Brooks is potentially a classier footballer than Moses but his energy is all wrong, and he doesn't keep his performance consistent on the field. Moses is the opposite, he's all energy but I feel that his game is also very fragile, he had a good patch last year but he's back to where he was in 2015.

With Cronk on the market it looks as strong a chance as ever that we won't keep Broses together, and Brooks is working out to be the far cheaper option. If Moses was willing to sign on for $550K, might be a different tune for some people.

play like an NRL standard half and then parade around like your it ,at the moment a twenty cent watch has more movement and lasts longer than Moses does...
