The next controversial call the Wests Tigers must make

I can't really see the problem of offering Taylor an extension (if that is what is the preferred option of the "fab four"), as long as there are significant and sufficient KPIs in place that would allow the club to move him on if results don't reflect expectations.

Of course senior players at ALL clubs influence the decision made whether to 're- sign or appoint a new coach. The decision is always ultimately the boards but the players performance and relationship with the coach will always come into review - especially when results are not a good enough indication alone.

The other part of this discussion is…we are talking about the four players who are presumably the most value in the team as far as talent and ability go..stop and think for a minute and consider the other 13 players who make up the team...do they feel the same way about who coaches them or are they happy to be in a top NRL squad to play what they enjoy irrespective if they are on far less than the 4 and do people consider them just part of the furniture to make up the side ? ITS A TEAM SPORT THE 4 CANT PLAY AGAINST A TEAM ON THEIR OWN THEY NEED EACH OTHER....even if the rest of the team are below what we consider quality players they are our TEAM and all should be considered in that manner.Which brings me to the question...If JT hasn't got the quality players to make the finals why the heck does everyone call for his head when he is doing his best to get them there???

The club seems to be doing everything to placate them so how they feel about Taylor will have a big bearing on their future.

I tend to believe that Taylor began the bad blood between himself and RF over him commenting that Robbie was selfish in taking up representing OZ - RF threw his BS straight back at him telling him that he will never have to make that decision. After Taylor's public apology Farah should have pursed his lips in that Herald article at SOO time saying he will never forget his and JT troubles. But that was after the another blunder by Taylor at previous season ending stating that RF would be dropped whatever.

Then after being relegated to reserves RF's comments re Taylor's coaching and teams defensive faults were spot on. In the three incidents mentioned here I read it as every time Taylor starting the blue and Farah finishing it argumentative wise.

So what has Taylor really achieved? Losing a $750K player for virtually nothing in return. When scoring tries RF was still very popular with the team. Farah may have hogged the ball but the way the left field was attacking for most of last season I don't blame for doing so - they were a clown act. Their defence was a clown act with Brooks landing on his backside after missing a player from behind. And this guy has priority over keeping RF according to the coach???

Though we love Moses, maybe out of desperation he also tries too many tricks that do not come off often enough. As someone else has already commented elsewhere - Farah had the perfectly balanced game of defence and attack. But that wasn't good enough for the coach - that is why I don't support this coach.

Well BBF,you seem to be showing your support as a Robbie fan as is your prerogative, however in my opinion RF had to much to say off the field and was given way to much latitude as a player in situations that other high profile players don't get at WTs or any other club….RF is gone our club has to get on with playing football no matter who the coach is I will support the club as a whole,I have seen many a bad time during my support of Balmain and now my team WTs....I'm looking forward to many a good time no matter who the coach is or who plays for us..these decisions are ultimately up to the board and Admin and I will place my faith in their decisions.....

I am from the maggie side of the joint venture but I don't support their decisions but I always supported the team on the field even without RF, though I would have loved to see him there esp. when we lost a game and final's entry over a stupid field goal. I blame the non-finals solely on the coach. The major controversial press statements that I can remember by RF were in response to BS by JT - it is not Farah's fault that JT became coach and so had to defend himself.

Taking that last game against the Raiders as a yardstick I would give a collective zilch to the eventual outcome of the season. I cannot ever remember seeing an attacking player run around a pack of opposition players without any attempt of hindrance. And as a maggie supporter for about 30 years I witnessed many floggings.

Come on BBF, time to wake up and smell the roses as it was not a Taylor thing, it was a Farah thing, particularly as it existed long before his arrival. Thinking otherwise is just about pure fantasy.

In regards with the Original thread " the next controversial call Wests Tigers make "….. That call with Robbie has been made and we have to move on just like Robbie did he might still be bitter and I'm sure one Day it will all come out in the wash but Robbie has excepted it.

In regards with retaining the big 4 , as a Business Organisation all we can do is sit down with these players Managers and player's and show them our next 5 years business plan.....On and off the field, what direction the Club is going in terms of Player retention, training facilities , future player signings, Coaching staff and Management etc....
These players will no doubt have a say and an opinion on Coaching and maybe they already have and so does the Club with who is Coaching from 2018 and onwards.

One thing is we can't allow these players to dictate there terms at the expense of our Squad suffering for it and in effect leave us short on purchasing other quality players, as important as these players are to the future of our Club we have to learn from past Management mistakes and not be held to ransom.
Teddy will command $1Million, Woods at least $800,000 , Moses after this Season could potentially be $800,000+, Brooks will try to get himself an $800,000+ deal even though his not worth more than $500,000\. It could potentially be about $3.5 Million to tie up these 4 ( my estimate could be wrong) unless some TPA'S come into play to help us out , we still have another 21 players to fit in the remaining $5.5 million Cap which is projected that the Salary Cap will be 9 million for 2018.

Pascoe has an immense task in retaining these guys and if it means loosing one of these guys so be it as we can't be left signing crap to make up the squad of 25.

And here I was thinking we had seen the last of the Farah Vs JT discussions. Obviously not.

Agree FT to some extent - but if other clubs manage to tie up more than four top tier players and still fill their side with quality first graders we need to find a way to do the same or we are never going to be able to compete.
We have had little success in attracting top tier
players to the club you either have to meet the market
and buy them or employ a coach that can attract
them.
Any quality player will dictate terms when negotiating with our club until we become the club that players
want to come to with the coach that players want to play under.

This is exactly my point re RF,the dramas were occurring way before Taylor came along….Sheens and Potter come to mind and that's what I was referring to about him having to much latitude as a player....Taylor is our coach and he will get my support until his tenure is complete,as far as RF goes he is a Souths player,a team I have no interest in but good luck to him while he is there.....

There is a way - it's called using TPA's to attract quality players. I am not sure why we rate around last and are getting smashed by all clubs on the TPA issue. Like they say on the TV ad "We can do better".

Just sign an irreplaceable coach

Problem solved , simple

And who would that be?.. and what would he cost?

Look at Canterbury.. they recruited "super coach" Hasler and gave him an open cheque book and what has he delivered in return…not much

But at least if you follow the dogs you know you have an excellent chance of making the semi finals each year and a realistic chance for the gf something we can only dream of.

I actually completely agree with what you and others have said, GNR,
But my point is that , around the time that Sheens was on the way out here, the senior players were actually called in and interviewed on a few different issues, one being the Coach.
Obviously the opinions mustn't have been too good as he was chopped( deservedly so)
It's just funny that one person in the club was vilified by some , because it was convenient, when all of the seniors were asked about it.

I don't have any problems about asking senior players to give an opinion about a coach,
But I wonder if , for example , Teddy told the club that he wouldn't stay if Taylor was to be retained here, would he be treated the same way by the same people
That's where double standards apply.
As for Taylor, he's getting the three years that he wanted and was lucky to survive 2015.
Either he gets results or enough time will have been wasted.

Only problem FT is that business plans , whether they're 5yrs, 3yrs or 3 week plans don't mean much for this club as well as for most clubs, they are filled with fluff stuff to make everyone feel good, and to do a snow job on potential sponsors and Players.
Mostly they only have a chance to work where the club can afford , and attract , the sort of players and coaches that are needed to win.

I'd have loved to see our 3 0r 5 yr plan for 2005.
It probably read as, try and win a few, keep the thrashings to a minimum and hope we come good at the right end of the season,, Oh yes, and try to defend really well if we should get to the finals.
Actually , I wouldn't mind seeing something like that for the next season.
