Have heard it all now, Molly Meldrum on the news stating that all along Sydney have hated Melbourne and "now i hope they are happy as they have got what they wanted"

Fans out side the Melb training ground also blaming Sydney's hatred of the the Storm..

You reap what you sow, sorry..i just prey NONE of the players are guilty of backhanders as they have some serious questions to answer to their fans and the ATO.

😱pen_mouth:

Geo, Kul and myself were at Thursday Night Live last night and they actually spoke to Meldrum about the Storm salary cap scandal. Turns out Molly was in Thailand of all places and he deadset sounded trashed…Bill Woods had to cut him off because he was just rambling while the rest of us were shaking our heads and laughing at the nonsense coming out of Meldrum.

each game that melbourne play this season, do not give them acknowledgement for any points they score at all.
if the score four tries and convert them, then the scoreboard show show Melbourne 0.

That would be hilarious.

It's hard to see the season not becoming a joke with Melbourne playing dead rubbers every weekend. Very ugly situation.

they told me before I got on that I will be asked a sporting question!
😱pen_mouth:
why would you wanna go to darwin?
a Ralph photo shoot might get me there

im a little emabarrased  , did my hair look good on tv?

The whole thing is a joke!

They shouldn't be playing any further games until they fix their cap issues. If that means releasing players, then too bad… if it means players taking paycuts... so be it. The sides who play Melbourne twice have an advatange in knowing they are up against a side playing for nothing! The 'nobles' in the game will tell you that they'll be playing for pride... what pride? The club is a joke and has made a complete arse of the NRL...

They have no place in the competition this season, or any season afterwards.

Arse of the NRL? Arse of the Australian Sporting Public!!

I can understand the argument re: letting them compete if they can get back under the cap, Gould put it very well last night BUT it would raise hell if they then went on to win the comp.

I think the NRL has done the right thing here, in fact I think they have handled this entire matter extremely well. If our courts acted this swiftly and harshly and sent out the right message when some scumbag does the wrong thing one can only imagine the difference in society.

Isn't that standard for Meldrum? I don't know whether he needs added stimulus to ramble…

CC Bears would be great, they are quite wel prepared already.

That being said I would not be against a Perth team. But how well supported and prepared are they over there?

If Perth get the nod in the near future, I dont think it would take them long to be ready.

There have been a few statements in the media the last couple of years that they intend to be in the comp for 2013 and that was part of the reason why they got themselves into the Jim Beam cup. Add to that they've got a Junior comp over there so they've got a foundation to improve upon when they do come into the comp.

It was a shame that Super League killed the Reds, I really think they needed to stay there. Shannon Hegarty and Matt Petersen are 2 players that come to mind that are from their Junior Comps.

It would've been ideal to keep them because at the time Fremantle were struggling in the AFL, and the Western Force weren't around in Union.

But then again if Melbourne die, at this stage the Central Coast look best equipped to replace them, and if they are in the Comp by 2013, Perth should come in then.

I also think if say, that does happen and Perth come in for 2013\. Rather then rush another Melbourne team back into the comp in the future, the NRL should focus completely on a junior comp there first.

Bears would be one of the last options for me.

With proper scheduling the marketplace should be quite tappable without the need for a fulltime team

What happens to the teams that lose to the Storm this year and then miss out on the 8 by 2 points. They have to be kicked out of the comp this year. They shouldn't be able to stop teams from gaining two points while they are $700,000 over the cap for this season.

Nah they cant be kicked out of the comp.

Firstly the NRL would have to do a major reschedule of fixtures.

Secondly the NRL is contracted to broadcast 8 games every weekend, if the Storm dont play this year that will make it 7 games and a breach of contract by the NRL towards its broadcasters.

And thirdly, if they get kicked out for this year, then the club will go broke in no time at all and its guaranteed that they'll be gone for good before next year arrives, basically if you kick them out this year, you kick them out for good. The only way that could be avoided if you kick them out for the year is if the NRL pay for the Storm's costs such as wages, maintenance, etc which would then nullify the $1.6 million in money the Storm owes the NRL.

Yeah just let them remove 700k worth of players this year, then they can start getting points for wins.

Seems simple does it not???

I think it's the best solution, I know if we lose to them to them this year, I'd be pretty ticked off given the knowledge that they are 700K over the cap as I'm sure any other supporter would be.

If the NRL changed their minds and let them cut lose 700k worth of players then let them earn points and they ended up winning the comp, good luck to them, at least they would have done it then without resorting to cheating.

It doesn't do any team any good having to play them when they are still cheating, regardless of the fact that the storm can't earn points, they are taking points away from the opposition AFTER it's been established that they are well over the cap. They should be forced to remove players now so it's an even playing field from now on, it will do us no good for them to remove players at the end of the year if they beat us and we miss out on the 8 by 2 points or a top 4 spot by 2 points.

Brian Waldron almost had the perfect plan. The fatal mistake he made was he didn't get on the ARL board of directors. Had he have done that he was home free.

According to the Telegraph, after the Bulldogs in 2002 they changed the rules so that players can't take pay cuts and therefore come under the salary cap. They must cut players. This prevents team staying together that should never have been together in the first place.

simple fact is not too many people can accept harsh reality.
he was probably in shock, then denial then anger.
always need to blame some-one else, too make your own frustration easier to handle.

I think you have it wrong there, they can still win games just dont get the 2 comp points.

for a long time I have been very reserved about what I post on here.
on this subject i won't be holding back for once,
and snowy I am in no way having a go at you

what I was trying to get across, is that they have cheated the system for so long.
give them some of their own medicine, why not let it cheat the storm as well.
so regardless of how many points they score, they get no acknowledgement. they could score alot of points and absolutely cane the opponent, who only has to kick a field goal to score one point to win.
then the storm will know what its like to be playing an opponent who has everything in their favour

Just saw this excellent idea from a Manly fan on the Storm unofficial fan site.

So make sure that Melbourne do not play 700k of players each game.
So my idea is this, each week the Storm's opposition choose at start of the week, one marquee player and fringe player to sit out of the listed team. These two players can not be 'rested' two weeks in a row by the opposition. These two players will be supplanted by players from their 20s, and reserve sides for that week.
For example, accepting Storms marquee players are Inglis, Smith, SLater, and Cronk. This week, the warriors choose Smith, and Tolman to sit out. Melbourne win, get two points, they lose, then Warrs get the two. Following week, Cowboys want to select Cam Smith, but can't, so they select Slater and Finch, and so on. This way the Storm players still represent their club, there is something to play for, and the other clubs can't whinge or complain that they have 700k better roster available each week, if they make it to the finals. I would also make it a rule they can't select longside players, so for example take out Cronk AND Finch at same time. Make sure this choice is made start of week so the Storm have time to adapt to new structures etc, also it isn't dependant on injuries, so if GI is injured, Slater, Cronk, or Smith can still miss out.

I'd leave them as premiers but put it lik this …..

2007 - Melbourne (Cheated)
2008 - Manly
2009 - Melbourne (Cheated)

Bwahahaha it's Rugby League…not immunity challenges Survivor style......where you can't sit out the same survivor in back to back challenges.....

They did the crime either shed 700k worth of talent NOW or suck it up each week....
