The Storm Rorting Super Thread.....

Yeah, but you can't just give their scheduled opponents 2 points for a bye. What happens for the teams who play them once instead of twice?

guess thats just luck of the draw, every win they have this season makes it harder for another team to make the finals, they are fielding an illegal team under the salary cap rules and they shouldnt be allowed to play out this season

they cant give the comp to parra, because we should have won down in Melbourne that means us in 8 = Grand Final thats right isnt it? haha

If it can be shown that players were receiving money that they didn't declare in tax returns, you'd think they would cop some hefty fines there too.

That's tax evasion - in which case hefty fines could be the least of your problems.

I hope other clubs take a look at this and act responsibly. All these rumours of salary cap rorts could start getting looked at a lot more closely now! I'd hope the Wests Tigers are clean but I wouldn't be surprised if every single club bent the rules in some way or another.

Could not agree more and would be gutted if this never had happened to the Tigers - the worst part would be the embarassment of getting caught cheating over a period when you did not make the finals.

Do we just add 2 to every team that lost to them so far? Then boot 'em?

they just need to go, how ever they come to that decision is fine with me, but they have been found guilty of rorting the cap, and if they didnt rort the cap they wouldnt be able to field the current team they have, hence the current team should not be allowed to participate this season.

Its not fair to the other teams in the comp who have abided by the rules, and every time they win it potentially puts a legally fielded team in jeopardy of missing the finals

Reason they are still playing - Tv rights, ground bookings, sponsorship commitments etc.
It isn't that easy just to "sack" the team for 2010.
But Cronk may look for somewhere to hang out???

well i guess every other team should suffer because of the corporate dollar for melbourne

They will play this week thats for sure. But it is not good for the game for them to play the rest of the season. No easy resolution for the NRL. Imagine being a Parra or Eagles fan! What a scar for the game. Imagine if we win the comp … it will still be clouded by the greatest rort in Australian sporting history ... oh I will take a Tigers prem anyday :supporter:

Because the NRL still have a commitment to televise a certain number of games, sell commercial space, duty to sponsors etc etc. And youd' be punishing the Storm fans, and minimum wage players like Tolman, Tandy, Hinchcliffe, Cahill etc who are probably on minimum wage and dont deserve to be banned for the remainder of the year.

Well how about stripping the points from Storm for this year AND strip the points from the teams that beat them, then write off future games against them and have the club/players or whoever else was involved give something back to the community somehow. Perhaps have them spend those game days coaching kids or something.

exactly correct golden -
and thats goes for 2007 as well
these parra and manly supporters should think about the team that missed out us!!

There is NO even and fair solution to any of this mess.

No scoop, they werent.
Thats what happens when cheats are able to thrive undetected for some time, everyone suffers.

sorry that excuse isnt good enough, tell that to the team sitting in 9th or 10th at the end of the year who lost to the storm once or twice, tell it those clubs sponsors and supporters that they missed out on tv coverage and incentives and extra sponsor dollars because a team who rorted the cap beat them and cost them a finals spot

Agree to disagree then. Fans are the most important thing in the game, and scrubbing their team off the face of the earth for a season would do more harm than good.

Sad day for the game of Rugby League. However, history has shown that this great game has overcome many adversities over the years and has always come back stronger than ever.
