Tigers and Storm Player Loan Swap

I have a theory.

Grant will go back.

Momo is a trial to see if hes worthy of a trade with JAC either before June or for 2021.

Hope it isn't - I want Momo back.

Give then Jennings, Mbye, Reynolds and McQueen for JAC.

4 for 1 and we sill come out on top.

It will be interesting. I would rate him above Seve & Olam based on what I have seen, and they look like the incumbent Melbourne centres.

I don’t rate him over Olam - he has absolutely come on as a centre and is a big strike weapon for Melbourne now. Momirovski will be 2nd centre picked down there.
I thought Momirovski was good last year and I expect he’ll continue to improve. I’d imagine we’d have been looking to extend him regardless of this development. Not sure why people are down on him - maybe just more focus on athleticism and less on attitude, effort and smarts.

I'm a bad judge. I dont and have never rated Momo.

Credit where its due, he had some reasonable games toward the end of last year and then pulls out some token rep selection. Good Luck to him.

But seriously, he is barely a first grader.

Unpopular opinion: I agree with this. He's an average footballer who played a couple decent games and went over for some tries at the end of the season, primarily to good half play. I think people get carried away in general with a couple good and/or bad performances.

On the other side of the coin, i think someone like Jennings has much more potential but had a rough year adjusting. He has the potential, we saw it at Souths and at Penrith before that. Some players have rough transitions for one reason or another and i expect Jennings to have a massive year this year.

I think Momo is quicker between the ears than he is over 30 metres. He struck me as someone who will do ok but his lack of speed and overall physicality could restrict his development. That said, others who are similar have had successful careers (Think Ricketson and Aubusson type players).

I reckon his best chance to be successful would be develop his versatility.

Yet he was the best Tiger last year at finding the try line

Hah he will retire when leilua and aloai give him one in the ribs

Momirovski is the new Dene Halatau.

its really not all about size, speed and athleticism. Some guys are just winners and bust their backsides to win.

When Momo can run through a brick wall like Halatau could have in 05, then he’ll be the new Halatau.

Suggest Tigers still have approx.$400,000 to $500,00 still in cap.Can this be carried over to next season? I know we must sign one more to fill the 30 quota but this could be done cheaply by upgrading a development player. With 4 players not on contract next year it could give us close to a mill to purchase a marque player such as JAC or another centre or fullback. Is this possible?

Any "unused" cap will be used up by bringing payments forward.

Which would put us in a pretty good situation for 2021 and beyond.

Even the man Tim Sheens himself admitted to overlooking Dene Halatau in the early days. Credited the two reserve grade teams for thankfully still having around when we needed him.

Rate the comparison how you like, to me it makes perfcet sense.

PS Halatau in 05 was immense. he was out of his skin. Big part of that was the form of Robbie Farah and the double dummy half system we were playing. Suited Deno to the ground to play off the back of Farah like that.

Yep, esp if we can get rid of a few others.

No but you could front load someone’s contract and create extra 2021 season space that way.

Halatau was all about his physical ability, not his smarts. His legs were very powerful.

Momo could score tries last year in situations that no one else in our backline could. A better step than anyone else we have. Not fast but still highly elusive

I think that the clubs have to spend 95%of their allocated cap each year.
They can front load contracts for the next year, if they want.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him yet to make any accurate judgment. He looks like he has some talent. For now I’ll look to better judges, such as the Melbourne Storm who seem to have a fairly good idea of which players have talent or not. They wouldn’t be taking him if he was a Jordan Rankin..

They can front load contracts for the next year, if they want.

Only if the NRL approve it..for example if player X is on 1mill for 2 seasons they will not let you pay 900K in year 1 and 100K in Year 2..giving you an extra 800k to spend in Year 2..they would not register that contract as the players actual value is taken into account

The cap is a nominal figure that you need to spend on player with a Cap floor of 96% spend..

Disagree. Momo showed pure determination in scoring several tries last year. Something we have not seen for a long time. Bellamy will put the polish on his game and if we resign him now we will benefit in the long run. He is a smart footballer and will only improve.
