Tigers announce new signings/ re-signing

McConacchie is listed as 187cm and 103kgs on the QRL website. And this is still as a part timer. Seems solid to me, not huge, but aggression makes up for things very quickly. Put him in a professional environment and hopefully he can get even more powerful.

I think Happy said he was the same size, a fraction bigger than Fults? Seems a lot bigger if you ask me!

Griffin was at pre season training with the Broncos last season. Bennett was considering him as an experienced backup forward but i'm glad we've got them both.

Anderson the Ipswich fullback had already signed with the Broncos earlier in the year, a shame we couldn't grab him too as he was apparently a goer too!

Hopefully his Williams-esque brain snap was a once off. Was a pretty grubby shot on Mamo.

Hopefully one of them really performs and becomes a genuine first grader so the Broncos can take him off our hands in 2017

If we're really lucky we might get to pay part of the contract!

Go to remember these guys are effectively park footballers.

Put him in a professional environment and hopefully that side of things disappears.

Ain't that the sad truth Winnipeg. The same thing will happen with Brooks and Moses…. we will bear with them and ride through their current teething problems only for scum such as Roosters, Broncos etc to vulture on in and add them to their rosters if they prove to be any good.

We were saying the same thing about Lodge though. Some blokes just have deep seated 'meat-headitis' that lingers for life ie Todd Carney. Hopefully this bloke just suffered a one-off cowardly brain snap but who knows? Best of luck to our new recruits, would be great to unearth a good'en.

People say this as the commentators at the time exaggerated a lot. Of all the officials on the field, and all the replays available via Fox there wasn't any evidence to say that he coward punched Mamo! That's why he didn't get sent off or suspended for punching..!

If an opponent is bullying our players, don't you want a hard man who sticks up for his team mates and doesn't let opponents walk all over us?!

Meh. Signings like this hardly excite me. If anything they irritate me.
We have a supposed policy of not signing anyone until 2017 but we keep recruiting reserve grade talent.
Before you know it we will have maxed out our cap (again) on reserve graders who we are only bought for depth. Come on Tigers learn from your mistakes. We have a brilliant nursery, so leave development to the juniors and save whats left of the cap money to invest in established talent.

I reckon Taylors done an excellent job.

He's bought some players of promise, some tough, uncompromising forwards. a bit of speed and a couple of those have an offload in them, notably Chee Kam.

Good effort with limited resouces and I note they are nearly all sined for 1 year which frees us up for a big 2017 buy.

bp….i can understand your frustration and know where your coming from .

IMO when players come in from the 20's into 1st Grade , there still babies so to speak except for the occasional Kane Evans type of players ( I'm talking about Forwards ) that can handle 1st Grade.....obviously helps to have established stars around you.

Obviously from our Salary Cap Position we have done the right thing in purchasing these 2 Ipswich forwards for just 1 year deals , it's a win win for all parties . They will come in hungry to impress and are harden grown up Men , won't be on big money and this time next year might be in a position to get proven NRL Forwards or we extend the Contracts of these guys if they impress.

You do understand we have a reserve grade team and therefore need exactly as much reserve grade talent as we do first grade talent ? Also that the first grade talent and the reserve grade talent come with separate salary caps so saving money on reserve grade talent gives you precisely $0 for first grade talent

No I did not realize that. Thank you for letting me know.

Just as long as we are in fact signing these guys to reserve grade and not first grade then your info calms my nerves…..

What are the limits on playing into first grade the players which were signed on the reserve grade cap?

What are the limits on playing into first grade the players which were signed on the reserve grade cap?

From memory the second tier cap for players outside the top 25 is $440,000.

The current squad wasn't good enough. About half our reserve grade team have left. You can't put kids straight into the NRL or even sometime the NSW cup. You need to give them time.

And a lot of fans somehow seem to forget we need players to play in NSW Cup next season. Or are you suggesting we don't field a team in the NSW Cup comp? Or if we do they will be all under the age of 23??

A lot of our recent signings will be on nsw cup contracts too. We don't have that much space free in the top 25.

Say we've got $500k to sign 8 new players. See how far you get buying established first graders…

We've done an excellent job, given the cap restraints we have. We've had weaknesses and we've recruited players who combat those weaknesses.

From the footage I saw, he didn't see it coming. Mamo wasn't concussed by a light breeze.

Anyway, he isn't a bad state cup player, I'd like to see him make the step up and kick on without the shenanigans. If he can channel his aggression the right way he could be the player that Lodge was meant to be.
