I find it hilarious Benji's ordinary defence is being blamed on the centre and winger. Don't they play wider?

Actually I would say it is the other way around.

And so would I Russ, they know how crap Benji's defence is, so they come in to help out

Spot on mate.. The more he acts like a pork chop the less respect he gets. Should be thanking the Club for giving him the last 2 years.

Dare I say passive aggressive or even divisive?

You could say that.
Benji has become a real problem. Both for team performance and morale. I agree with others who have stated Benji has a lot to offer, but it is in his hands, he needs to want to do it. He also needs to come to the realisation that his playing days are over.

It's a shame the way he is acting isn't it. I hope he watches his game on the weekend and reflects if that performance is acceptable at this or any level other than a backyard game of rugby league.

Hahaha someone has started a petition to keep Benji next year on one of the Facebook pages...if you’re gonna try a petition, you may as well actually do it for a cause that advances the club.

Reasoning that “he deserves to retire a tiger”, “is an icon and deserves an extra year” and “that club legends shouldn’t be treated this way”. The definition of emotions over logical/rational thinking.

If he’s such a great player as the media and casual fans portray why haven’t we heard of any interested clubs bar a second tier English team...

So much I could say but I imagine it’s already been said. You either [retire] a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain” -Harvey Dent.

And for maximum impact Benji could be wheeled at the head through Sydney streets onto Hyde park where passionate speeches can be heard over the backdrop of running water from the Archibald fountain. To make it really big, it needs to be tied in with a few other causes though? Ideas anyone? Age discrimination? Covid-19? Any ideas?

I’d be interested in a poll of the fans as to whether they want the club to reconsider the decision on Benji
I get that lots here are happy to see him go but I can’t help think there’s a silent majority who’d like him to go around again
I appreciate everyone’s reasoning but I feel there is a case for both sides

This forum is a microcosm of the greater fan base. I think it'd be more skewed on here toward seeing him go. If you look at the WT facebook page, I'd say somewhere around 90% of fans want him to stay on.

Benji has got more of a go than Farah and Rowdy got, he should be thankful he got 3 years from 2018 to 2020 when no one else wanted him, shut up and move on, he is kidding himself now

Who cares, it’s not up to the fans. The club has told him he’s not wanted. That’s it.

This petition thing is an embarrassment.

That’s because people are blinded by nostalgia . Father Time is undefeated , and his defence is shocking . Not because he’s lot committed , or soft or any other rubbish , but mainly because he’s missing that step , that a fast guy turned slow expects to be there .
He’s not my favourite tiger, but he’s right up there. There’s a real lack of honesty from people including benji

His defence isnt just poor misses and getting shrugged off, I noticed a lot last night he struggles to get the ball runner to the ground, he seems content on just holding them till someone else comes or till it’s called held. Not good for us when the opposition can get high post contact and quick play the balls.
