I’d be interested in a poll of the fans as to whether they want the club to reconsider the decision on Benji
I get that lots here are happy to see him go but I can’t help think there’s a silent majority who’d like him to go around again
I appreciate everyone’s reasoning but I feel there is a case for both sides

This forum is a microcosm of the greater fan base. I think it'd be more skewed on here toward seeing him go. If you look at the WT facebook page, I'd say somewhere around 90% of fans want him to stay on.

That’s because people are blinded by nostalgia . Father Time is undefeated , and his defence is shocking . Not because he’s lot committed , or soft or any other rubbish , but mainly because he’s missing that step , that a fast guy turned slow expects to be there .
He’s not my favourite tiger, but he’s right up there. There’s a real lack of honesty from people including benji

His defence isnt just poor misses and getting shrugged off, I noticed a lot last night he struggles to get the ball runner to the ground, he seems content on just holding them till someone else comes or till it’s called held. Not good for us when the opposition can get high post contact and quick play the balls.

It’s that initial contact for me . There’s no spring there anymore. There’s no bite , usually because he’s dealing with a rangy back rower or centre who creates some deception so it makes him to move quickly . It’s clearly gone . It’s as obvious as daylight to me . And he had it as soon as last year .

I don’t understand why people think the club owes Benji something? No player is bigger than the coach and the club and that’s been the issue with our club legends.

If anything Benji owes the Tigers for taking him back after the way he left the club and giving him a chance to finish his career at his home club - instead his ego is too big and he’s trying to play on and making the club look bad in the process

I love Benji but in all honesty I can’t wait until he’s gone, just less drama overall and we can focus on the future.

It will be the end of all the nostalgia about 2005 and it needs to be removed and the club moving forward not clinging to the past. The club needs to renew and Benji going will help with that

I would laugh if the petition got taken down. they say Benji " almost won us the game".

In all fairness he did, we wouldn't of been close had he not played.
One of his better games for the year, especially in D as well. If he played like that every week you would be mad not to resign him

But as we all know he has one good game then forgets defense for the next 4 weeks.

Still pro moving on with a fresh start, however big concerns on scoring points next year in our halves.

Cant go with you on that one. We must be watching different games. Extremely poor defence. The Brooks try, Benji fans raving about the flick pass disregard that it came from a completely screwed up kick that he kicked directly into the feet of the opposition and got a lucky bounce. The pass to AJ for his try was a beauty but of course was not the only time he tried it and we disregard that its a hand over of possession on the other occassion. Spent a large chunk of the game, particularly when Brooks was off doing that mind numbing thing of a slow job nowhere asking someone to run inside him and handing off.

Agree with some posters on here, without Benji we are rubbish in attack. Be interesting to see who plays 6 next year. Maybe Mbye and buy a fullback?

The funny thing about all of this is come 2021 no one will even comment on how much better Wests Tigers would be if only they kept Benji.

Except maybe Benji as he sits in the channel 9 commentary box.

Honestly, our fan base doesn’t deserve to make the finals
unfortunately too many come on this forum just to cry, or are flagellants!

Who cares, it’s not up to the fans. The club has told him he’s not wanted. That’s it.

This petition thing is an embarrassment.

Never mentioned a petition and relax it’s just my opinion

They won’t, but if the club were to change their mind based on a few idiots on Facebook, then the club would deserve to be shut down. Reminds of the 20 morons and their rally when Farah got shafted. It’s ok to disagree with the decision, but to actively try and force the club to change their minds is pathetic and shows the state of the world we live in where everybody has an inflated view of how much their opinions matter.

So this petition crap is in light of the whole Alex Johnston thing I’m assuming? Gez we have some moronic fans..... does that young kid really think he changed Souths mind? Or did Souths just find a way to keep him after really wanting him to stay anyway.....?

There were only 500 votes on the petition. Then the article by his employer, Fox Sports, was released and it jumped to over 5000. My mate is an Eels fan and he signed the petition just to get under my skin. Overall, my impression is that it won't make a difference. Pascoe, Hartigan and Madge are too robust too be swayed by public opinion.
