Tigers dump Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington to the sharks

It's embarrassing for the club. Ryan and rhino were all but gone to Penrith last year and then we held on to them. Moltzen was all but gone last year and then we held on to her. Gibbs and fifita were asked to move while still under contract and now a year later the same is happening again to Ryan and Rhino . this is poor form

Sharks, manager deny Ryan deal

Steve Jancetic AAP Mon, Sep 17, 2012 - 6:40 PM

There are denials from both sides, but it appears only a matter of time before Cronulla secure unwanted Wests Tigers winger Beau Ryan for the next three NRL seasons.

Ryan's immediate playing future has been plunged into limbo, with a new three-year deal he signed with the Tigers earlier this year falling through due to salary cap pressures.

There was speculation the 27-year-old had signed with the Sharks, but both the club and his manager Wayne Beavis denied any deal had been struck.

"It might happen down the track but certainly not today," Beavis told AAP on Monday.

"We're talking to a few clubs."

The Sharks say they are definitely interested in versatile outside back - who along with Penrith flyer Michael Gordon would add some much-needed speed to Cronulla's ranks.

The Tigers' decision to allow Ryan to leave has surprised many in rugby league circles following a standout campaign in 2012 when he filled gaps at wing, centre and fullback.

His efforts were rewarded with selection in the Prime Minister's XIII to play Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby on Sunday.

With Tigers back-rower Chris Heighington also in talks with the Sharks, Cronulla's squad could have a very black and gold feel to it in 2013 with ex-Tigers Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Fifita already at the club.

LaT i know what your getting at, but in this case he WILL sign with the Sharks if he hasn't already

He probably will. Just found it funny you called everyone in denial for doing exactly what you told us all to do only a few hours ago, which is wait for confirmation from the club.

Ryan announced 8 or so weeks ago that he had signed and was staying. For some reason the deal was not done then and there. Why not? What has changed?

Regardless of whether you agree or not, yet again this is poor business and planning.

Rothfield said on radio that he is speaking with Humphreys tonight and it will be in tomorrow's Tele.

I actually see both sides of this ,one of those hard ones .I'm a realist and must say I liked the passion Beau has shown and his gutsy efforts but Also see the clubs reasoning especially with the youth coming online also having 1premier league side could of Had something to do with it as places will be at a premium.Beau's leaving opens up doors for the new breed. Sad to see him go life sucks at times.

As sad as it is to lose Ryan this shuffle will most likely benefit us in the long run.

We've waited years to buy some props not wingers and it looks like it may happen at last.

GONE: Ryan (we've got tons of wingers and the up and coming island boys look slightly better anyway) Heighnington (Let's be honest he's passed it and I'll never forgive him for 2010 semi final scrum) Ellis (huge loss but he was injured all year, is getting old and when he came back didn't make much of an impact anyway).

GAIN: Anasta (experience and a structured no-nonesense half to foil marshall) Pettybourne (strong runner and tries wayyyyyyyyy harder than Blair) Thompson (bit impotent but cannot be worse than Blair - will try), Kite (Great buy in my opinion has had a stellar year, great bulk to add and is much better than Moors or Groat - LOL GROAT) Mose Mosoe (if this is rumour is true I think it's great he is better than Bell and on his day will destroy any defence and create opportunities for the celebrities Marshall Farah and Moltzen).

Everyone is whinging about Ryan's TV personality being a concern and how we have 500,000 wingers in our team - So now he's gone. Not happy about it but he's really not needed. We need big boys not TV stars.

Now if we get rid of Sheens we're looking good.

Are you a WT fan for real….. Really?

He mentioned on TFS he'd ''agreed to terms''
Moltzen around the same time, a story came out in the DT….three year deal.
NEITHER of these were ever officially announced/confirmed by WTs

Moltzen is off contract! 😛ray:

No cos in this case the writing is on the wall. Its in every media outlet, Sharks are denying which is another sign that he's gone. I remember the Sharks saying the exact same thing about 2 of our players last yr, and look how that worked out. In the case of Ryan'' re-signing'' it was a passing comment on the Footy show to which there was never ever one single word from the club, nor any kind of media speculation. At the end of the day, as long as i'm proven right on both counts, theres nothing funny about what i said at all. The ends justify the means as they say

Loyalty, passion, pride are all things that Chris and Beau have. That doesn't seem to rate at the tigers any more.
The players have most of the responsibility for the performances this season BUT there were way to many positional changes. Players out of position, expected to perform, dumped when they don't, but then under performers NEVER dropped eg Adam Blair.
Why do we have a reserve grade side if we never use the players?
Show some loyalty Sheens and Humphries or no one will want to play for us.
Wooden spoon next season if we don't change the coach.

Beau is 28 next year and wants a 3 year deal and as good a club man as he is probably won't be a starting winger after maybe the first year. His passion would be missed greatly however. Problem is with our operation, it seems they don't have a plan in place, this is way too ad hoc.

hopefully benji leaves coz he doesn't like the club's treatment of beau. then sheens leaves coz he doesn't wanna coach tigers unless his son is there. then moltzen leaves coz he knows no one but sheens would put him in the starting 13\. this will happen, you know it will. !!!

I respect everything that these two guys put out there every week in terms of effort, pride etc.

However if they were both to leave and be replaced by younger and/or cheaper versions of themselves who are on the upward arc of their career I have no issue with that.
